Bundled up in the warm blanket cocoon that was his bed, Roan was sleeping softly through the morning. Outside, however, the world was teeming with energy.
The birds were chirping, the river was flowing, and there was a pleasant warm breeze that was blowing through the valley. He stretched his paws over his head and rolled onto his side, shuffling to get into a more optimal sleeping position, until suddenly, breaking from the calm sounds of nature outside of his den, he heard that noise again.
A rattling, ringing noise that broke through the surrounding sound. Every morning this noise would wake him, but no matter how much he searched he could never find the source of it. From high and low on the hill around his den he would look, but none of his little expeditions would yield results.
He hated it. What if he never found the chance to sleep in again? He was beginning to lose hope that he'd locate it, but he was compelled to set out again. If not for him, then for his slumber. Plus, the chance to see the new charm he hung from the tree next to his den was always welcome...
