Snákahúð was often put down or picked on because of her unusual patterning. She had never met anything who looked like her, not even close, and she feared she never would; not until she met little Thrandr.
She was just trudging along, hoping to stay out of her pridemates way until she almost tread on a tiny little hatchling, who reared up and hissed at her. She leapt back and stared as this snake that was no bigger than the length of her snout hissed in such an indignant way, as though she had offended him by merely being in his presence.
That’s when she noticed his scales, his beautiful, beautiful scales. They were practically a perfect match to the pattern on her fur, and she could tell that he had noticed too because he had stopped hissing and was instead staring very intently at her. Then he curled up tightly like a spring and sprung upwards to wrap his small body around her neck; she froze up waiting to see what he would do, but he simply settled around her neck and gazed adoringly at her fur and his scales.
She decided to keep him around for as long as he wanted to stick with her, which became years. He continued to grow until he could circle around her stomach twice and still have excess, and she came to the realization that he considered her his sister because they looked so similar. That, and the fact that he took pride in his scales so much so that when he saw that her fur looked like his scales he simply had to stay by her side so he could admire his scales and her fur as much as he pleased.
