prompt: If you've ever tried to draw something from real life it can be difficult to tell what is darker than what if there are multiple colors in what you are drawing. To get around this, just squint your eyes heavily and it allows you to see far clearer what values are darker than what, much in the same way as a pinhole occluder. It's a neat trick that can make drawing just about anything from life significantly easier!

prompt: frogs and toads can breathe through their skin, they can even absorb oxygen out of the water! this is how they survive for long periods of time buried in the dirt, or underwater. be careful when you catch them, because human skin oils can clog their pores and make it difficult for them to breathe under the dirt!

prompt: the world’s smallest playable guitar (a twoleg object) is only 10 micrometers long, or about as long as a cell. it was made using high-voltage electron beam lithography at the Cornell Nanofabrication Facility. (twolegs sure have nothing better to do XD)

prompt: In the town of Longyearbyen, Norway, it is currently illegal to die! Because of the permafrost that preserves bodies, anyone close to death is flown to the mainland then buried there. During the spanish flu epidemic of 1917, eleven people from the town died from it and were buried nearby, but due to the nature of the icy ground there are live examples of the virus on these people.

prompt: The largest living organism isn't a blue whale... it's a forest of aspen trees, each tree is genetically identical and they all share the same interconnected root system. They're estimated to be 80,000 years old and the entire forest takes up more than a hundred acres!

prompt: The team on the movie "interstellar" predicted how black holes would look in real life. They hired theoretical physicist Kip Thorne not only as a scientific consultant, but as an executive producer as well so he could work closely with SFX team to make sure all the imagery was scientifically accurate. To create the rendering of the black hole for the movie, a new CGI program was made based on theoretical physics equations given to them from Kip and researchers.
