what is her biggest flaw?: ophelia sees the worst in everyone and never gives second chances. she doesn't tend to listen to apologies or explanations - if you hurt her feelings, or if she hears a negative rumor about you, or anything else (however minor), she'll cut you off quickly and without a second thought. she is sometimes described as cruel, but she treats that criticism the same way she treats anything else - by choosing to permanently ignore you. she wouldn't say she holds grudges, or even that she doesn't forgive - she just doesn't care to see if you've grown at all from the last time she met you, or to check and make sure you deserve to be cut off. it's a poor outlook on life that has led to her losing friends before she even makes them. she struggles to properly integrate with the herd because of this flaw, but she doesn't care - if someone offends her, she just tries to fight them for ranking and then avoids them. if she loses, she sees that as yet another reason to stop interacting with that buttermilk. if she wins, she considers herself as above them and, as always, promptly decides to ignore them. -- 198 words

Not only were her devilish good looks intimidating, Dia’s personality wasn’t exactly anyone’s cup of tea. The red heifer was a very blunt and in your face kind of gal, so there was no holding back her thoughts. She always put a damper on the fun, even if she didn’t mean to, because she was always telling people to quit doing things if she didn’t like it or agree with what they were doing.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes Dia’s discipline was much needed. You could often hear her snapping at her friends “Hey! Stop that! There’s young calves here, don’t use such foul language.” Her lips would drop into a mean scowl and her slit pupils would form a penetrating glare. Dia sometimes would forget just how menacing she could look when she got angry.

There were other times that Dia would chime in with her two cents when it was less than necessary however, which is what really put a tremendous strain on all of her relationships, and what some would consider her biggest flaw. If her friends were doing anything she considered embarrassing or rude, such as raising their voice, she would berate them. “When you yell that loudly people are going to think you’re angry, or that you’re just being plain rude” she would explain in a harsh and nasty tone. Her friends would never get mad and raise their voices at each other, they were just an easily excited bunch who often forgot what their inside voices were.

With Dia always yelling at them whenever they felt so happy, it made it difficult for her friends to still feel comfortable in their own skin around her. They constantly felt like they were walking on eggshells, that something they did Dia would find unacceptable, and they would be reprimanded for it when all they were trying to do was have fun and be themselves. When they were around her, they started changing the way they would act, but they felt miserable doing so. Eventually, they grew tired of the charade, and simply stopped inviting Dia to hang out with them. Dia truly loves her pals, but did not understand why they had grown so distant. She did not see that it was her that drove them away. If only they had told her why they left, then maybe… maybe she could change. (400/400)
