wind whipped violently around him, dirt and grit picked up and placed anywhere and everywhere. a fledgling, aurulian had never flown before. in fact, he was a bit behind his peers, and much preferred the solace of his feet on the ground. he never really minded the others flying, it was fun to watch they dip and weave throughout the sky, tails streaming behind them like flags. The would joke about him not being able to sometimes, but it was all in good fun, and he never minded. but now, stranded and far from home, the wind threatened to throw him sky-high.

Thunder boomed around him, deafeningly loud. Lighting cracked near and far, and he laughed with the thrill of a child enjoying a rollercoaster. Sure, the closer flashes of light made him jump with surprise, but the adrenaline, the excitement of swerving and diving around deadly bolts was what he lived for. He knew full well it wasn't a safe hobby, but he'd done it for years and knew how to read the clouds. Accidents would happen, but it would be no fault of his own. Plus it's not like he flew into storms every other day. It was an uncommon activity, and one he enjoyed as if it were his first, a flight that both excited and calmed him. So with that airtight reasoning, he carelessly and effortlessly sliced through the dark sky, breathing in the energized air and enjoying the sensation of static tugging at his fur. Besides the lighter brown tips of his wings and tail, and his halo, he blended into the clouds, as if he were one with the thunderous sky.
If only he could stay airborne forever, and glide through these wonderful dark skies.
