Prompt:One rainy day, Foxclaw was walking through the forest with his apprentice, teaching the young cat how to hunt and track prey. Though, while doing so, Foxclaw was too into tracking prey in the rain that he was somehow oblivious to the sharp scent coming from a creature that wasn't that far from where the two cats were exploring. His apprentice was the first one to realize the smell. When Foxclaw's attention was directed towards trying to locate where the scent was coming from, it was too late.
A loud chirp-like bark came from behind a wall of bushes. Foxclaw told his apprentice to stay back behind him. The young apprentice, as usual, didn't listen. Instead, they ran towards the bushes, thinking they had found some rare kind of prey. They thought that if they were able to catch and kill whatever it was behind those bushes, Foxclaw would be proud of them enough to let them get their warrior name early.
Though, what was behind the bush was not prey for the clan and the apprentice found this out very quickly. A quick flash of black and white fur was all the apprentice could see before they felt a heavy creature slam their body to the ground. Foxclaw immediately darted over towards his apprentice and pushed the creature off. The apprentice looked up towards the direction of their mentor and saw something they wish they'd never have to see.
Badger.Foxclaw lunged forward towards the badger and thrashed around, trying his best to scare the creature off. Though, this badger wasn't going to give up easily at all. The two wrestled as chunks of fur flew into the air around them and the grass was dappled with scarlet drops. It was a difficult fight for the both of them, but luckily, Foxclaw was able to pin the badger down to the ground and he successfully bit down on the creatures throat. It thrashed around before eventually laying still in the grass.
Foxclaw sighed deeply at the ground and then glared at his apprentice, who gave a guilty smile in return. "I told you to stay back." He scolded, shaking blood from off of his fur.
"I know, I got excited. I'm sorry Foxclaw," The apprentice whimpered back.
The orange tom shook his head before saying, "You're young. I get that things can be exciting sometimes. But if I give you an order, then you obey. Especially when it comes to things like this. We were lucky this time. Don't let it happen again." Foxclaw limped over to where the young cat was standing. "Walk me back to camp. I need these wounds fixed up."
The apprentice nodded sheepishly and supported Foxclaws weight as the two made their way back to the camp so the Medicine Cat could make sure Foxclaw's wounds would heal up without any problems.
