Re: [LEGENDARY] 🔪 Yaeko #28 - open 🔪

🔪 Name
Goodness, he's been called monster, Thing, murderer, demon, and so many horrible things,
but Kier calls him Kriv, so I guess that's what he goes with.

🔪 Personality
Barely shows anything but his sad face, droopy ears, and monotone voice

🔪 Why are they so sad?
Rejection
A strong word, but this Yaeko's grown numb to it.
Rejection here, rejection there. All starting from when he was a small and vulnerable and abandoned.
"Innocent," one might say when they describe a small child. But not when they describe this Yaeko. Some don't even speak at all and are left to gawk at the monster before their eyes. His dull blind eyes and the three on his neck are not a pretty sight to most. Ever since he was young, he knew what shame and rejection felt like. It built up to the point when he began to reject himself, letting his hair and nails grow wild, not eating and speaking for certain periods of time, and banging himself against the walls of the adoption center, painted with pretty pink flowers as if to mock his hideous figure.
In this period of great depression, his dome broke, along with all he had inside him that made him care.

♡♡♡
That was, until he met Kier. Kier was just like him, an outcast of society due to her "hideous" appearance. Kriv barely noticed Kier's interest in him at first, but they quickly became close after their first few encounters and shared their struggles together. Kriv soon learned that though the world may judge you on what you seem like, there are small hidden tidbits of love, compassion, and kindness amongst it.

🔪 Art
Image
After Kriv and Kier get pushed out of the window by the mean kids at the adoption agency, they are faced with a beautiful sunset and a sky painted with thousands, maybe millions of twinkling lights.
What are those dots in the sky?
I think they're called stars. I've heard of them once.
That one's moving I think. And it's really bright.
What a show-off. I didn't know stars could move.
Well I guess they do.
I guess they missed their chance making a wish! Maybe next time, once they learn more about stars...

🔪 Name
Teresia
Named for Mother Teresa - who founded a congregation devoted to taking care of those suffering from leprosy, AIDs, and other charity work - and the seer Tiresias, known for his blindness and living as a woman for 7 years.
🔪 Personality
Soft spoken and constantly anxious of everyone around, Teresia wants nothing more than to get out of a bad situation she’s found herself in and go back to her old life. However, he knows this isn’t anything more than wishful thinking, so in the meantime he just keeps his head down and tries to survive. Everytime she sees someone in a similar situation that she can’t help she feels the sharp pain of guilt in her heart. In this sense, the real mother Teresa and Teresia are very much foils; while mother Teresa had the means to help and create change she hadn’t the morals, and Teresia has the morals and desire to fix things but no way to do so, crushed beneath the hopeless feeling of their awful situation. Sometimes when he looks at the papers or sees kids run by with superhero shirts he wonders what it would be like to be that - a superhero, worthwhile and fully capable of changing the world, instead of... this.
🔪 Why are they so sad?
You ask of me a question, and of you I shall ask some in kind.
Why are you not sad? How have you not succumbed to woe and misery, buried beneath the weight of this world?
In this world, where the sick and diseased are exploited by those above them until they can no longer afford to live?

A parasitic... plant? Fungus? He couldn't remember. It grew throughout his body like a cancer, working at first the skin and then spreading to the nervous system. Medication kept it from spreading that far. Expensive. Pricey. Soon he would be out of work and out of funds.
How do you feel happy, knowing this world was tailored in such a way that our disabled and mentally ill can barely participate?
Color was the first thing to go. Like navigating a house in dim light, she could see the shadows and shapes, but none of the beautiful tones present before. The doctors had warned her that her sight would fade quickly if she went off her meds, but she still wasn't prepared for it. Couldn't have been.
...was the door knob always this difficult?

Our LGBT+ brethren are cast out on the streets for who they are, how do you feel secure with your own home?
In another room he heard a shouting match between his sister and her husband. He heard it well, yet he wished he hadn't. Several slurs were thrown by the husband, pronouns discarded for a scathing "it" at every turn. They spoke of what to do with him. The husband wanted him gone, something about how the child shouldn't be exposed to "someone like that". When he tripped over his bags his dome shattered, a mercy in disguise that cut short the arguing in the other room.
A broken system keeps our homeless on the streets or in the prisons, denied even the most basic of needs...
She was hungry. Cold. Exposed. The stamps didn't pay for pre-prepared food . If you didn't have somewhere to cook they were worthless. Business owners had taken to placing hostile architecture all around. They treated her like an animal, so she supposed it was fitting she found a home in the park among them.
...children fear for their safety at school, and adults for theirs in the streets...
He had been a witness to many things. Even before the new eyes had emerged, he had "seen" plenty. To most people the homeless aren't truly "people", so why would they care what they overheard? With blank eyes he witnessed the worst people had to offer, and he could do nothing but keep his head down and hope to be ignored. Who would belief him, anyway? He, who was "too confused to know his own gender"?
Regret hit much harder after the three extra eyes grew in - reasoning with himself that there was nothing to be done was much more difficult when he could read the papers the day after.
Newspapers were one of the few things free in life, after all.

... so I ask of you, is this world alone not enough to turn you to despair?

Wip wip. I'll think of something.
