Clan:AuroraClanWill he find love?: "I won’t lie and say I’m happy. I’m content, yes, but not happy. I have a great clan and loving friends, and I know I will always have a place to call home now. But it hasn’t always been this way. All my life I’ve been mistaken for a girl. Having strangers ask me why a she-cat my age doesn’t have kits yet. And then I open my mouth and watch their eyes widen when they realize what they’ve just said to a tom. No, I don’t have kits. And no, I’ll never be able to have them. Thanks for reminding me. I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve had moons to come to terms with the fact that I’ll never be a father. I’ve known from the time I was an apprentice that I was sterile, and gay. At first the sterile part didn’t faze me too much. It was more of an annoyance. Being mis-gendered all your life takes its toll but I had learned to deal with it. But I soon realized as I grew up that I was attracted to other toms. Then the sterile bit didn’t matter to me. Two toms can’t have kits anyway. Plus, when I realized I was gay, I was too busy panicking over the fact that I was gay to care about being sterile. I was also distressing over the fact that any tom that flirted with me was most likely mistaking me for a girl. It really sucks to get your hopes up only to have then walk away the second they realize you’re a tom.
So, the sterile bit wasn’t really an obstacle in my youth besides the being mistaken for a girl thing that went with it. Being sterile wasn’t a deal when kits weren’t even on my mind yet. But times change a cat’s perspective. Watching my clanmates grow up, find mates and have kits made me realize how much I wanted some of my own. If I was just gay I could possibly find a surrogate, but the sterile thing kind of gets in the way. I mean, what kind of cat doesn’t like kits? Kits are just wonderful. So innocent and eager, and undeniable adorable. How could I not want some kits of my own blood to spoil?
I’ve honestly thought about adopting but I don’t want to raise kits on my own. I’m too inexperienced, even though I know my clan would help. So, I’ve got to find a mate. But how in the world am I supposed to do that? Where am I going to find a dashing tom to sweep me off my paws? I mean... I may be a tom but even I want to be romanced. Who doesn’t want to feel appreciated and know that their suitor is serious? But given the lack of dashing toms around, I’ve all but given up. I’m still hopeful but as of now, there isn’t a single tom I’m interested in. And isn’t that depressing?
So, I can’t do anything about the mate thing right now, and nothing will ever change the fact that I’m sterile and look like a girl. But I’ve found something that does make things better. Even if I can’t have my own kits, I can certainly spoil any kit I find. I have decided to become an uncle to all kits. I’ll spoil every kit that comes through my clan as if they were my own. They can call me "Uncle Emberspark" if they want. And some do. Being their "Uncle" makes things easier for both me, and their mothers. With kits, any extra pair of paws is welcome help. They've dubbed me the Unofficial Queen's Assistant. I'm not sure I should be as proud of that title as I am. And helping the queens and kits helps me too. It makes me content to be there for the little ones. Just content, they always remind me of what I’ll never have even though I love them all dearly. So yeah. Life is good. I’m content, but not happy. But I’m working on the happy part."
Extra 1: History"My history? It's pretty bland. Not sure why you would want to know. I was born into a small clan that lived by the lake. My father was the deputy and my mother was a capable warrior. When I was born, the medicine cat told them point blank that I was in fact a sterile male, not a girl. From what I've been told, this news sadden my father who wanted grand-kits, but made my mother become an incredibly protective and encouraging mother. After all, I was her only kit. I grew up in my clan, training to become a warrior, and ignoring the pitying looks that followed me around. My apprenticeship was uneventful apart from finding out I was sterile, and finding out I was gay due the occasional flirting rogue that mistook me for a she-cat. My mentor always fiercely fought off those rogues in particular. I think he felt offended on my part. I never told him that it flattered me as much as it hurt my pride to be mistaken for a she-cat. I think he knew. I never had the courage to bring it up.
So it was around the time that I became a warrior that I finally told my family that not only did I like toms, but I was considering leaving the clan. Now, my parents were incredibly supportive. They knew how restless I was in our small clan. How I needed to see the world. My former mentor merely asked why it had taken me so long to bring it all up. I left with the blessings of my family and clan and traveled around for a few moons. I eventually landed myself in the mountains where I stumbled across AuroraClan. That was the first time I hadn't been mistaken for a she-cat. The patrol made up of Hawkstrike and Lightheart, actually realized I was a tom before I even opened my mouth. It was a nice change. They welcomed me into their clan to rest from my travels, and it was as I was resting up that I fell in love with this clan. Not romantically. Don't get you hopes up. I just fell in love with the vibe and warmth. It wasn't' that hard for them to convince me to stay. And the rest is history. Pretty basic, I know. But I did warn you."
Extra 2: Meeting Eaglekit Emberspark was nervous. It was his first time entering camp. He had considered joining for awhile and had stuck around AuroraClan's territory but he'd never actually seen their home. Lightheart gave him a reassuring smile.
"You'll be fine. Don't worry." She insisted. Emberspark nodded.
"Do you think Ravenstar will let me join?" He questioned. He hadn't seen the clan's leader since when he first entered the territory. She had been 'occupied' for whatever reason. Emberspark worried she was ill.
"She'll accept you. I should warn you though, Hawkstrike is being very protective right now. I mean she did just have kits." Lightheart mentioned. Emberspark froze.
"Kits? As in actual little fuzzy kits?"
Lightheart chuckled. "Yes? Why?" She tilted her head curiously. Emberspark smiled and radiated excitement.
"I love kits. Let's go!" He eagerly stepped into camp with Lightheart following him and laughing at his sudden eagerness. Echomist greeted the newcomer.
"It's good to see you again. You decided to join?" She questioned. Emberspark nodded but kept glancing at a den where he could hear tiny meows coming from. Echomist followed his line of sight curiously.
"He likes kits apparently." Lightheart supplied. Echomist nodded and smiled warmly.
"Would you like to meet them?"
Emberspark nodded quickly. "Can I?"
Echomist chuckled. "If Ravenstar lets you." She led the tom to the nursery where Hawkstrike was standing guard. The deputy nodded at Emberspark.
"So you finally made a decision." He asked getting a nod in response. The large tom eyed the newcomer with a smirk. "I'm guessing you want to see Ravenstar. Or the kits?" He teased lightly.
"The kits!" Lightheart called from across the camp making Hawkstrike laugh and Emberspark lower his ears sheepishly.
"If I can. I haven't seen kits in so long." He whispered in awe, hearing the little meows inside.
"Come on in Emberspark." Ravenstar called from within the den. She had been listening to the conversation. Hawkstrike stepped to the side and let Emberspark in. The tom walked through the entrance and blinked to adjust his eyes. He froze when he took in the sight of Ravenstar curled up around three kits.
He instantly dropped to the floor and watched the kits. "They're so beautiful...." He whispered in awe. Ravenstar chuckled but he didn't hear her. He was too focused watching the largest of the three kits force her way around the nest. "What a little spitfire you have." He noted. Eaglekit seemed to finally notice the other cat's presence and turned around. Her eyes and ears were still closed but she was curious. The small kit pawed the air towards where she sensed the stranger. Her tiny paw landing on Emberspark's nose. The tom froze and visibly melted.
"Oh. Hello little one." He whispered in shock making Ravenstar chuckled.
"So you want to join the clan?" Ravenstar asked with amusement. Emberspak didn't take his eyes off the small kit on his nose.
"Yes please." He whispered. Ravenstar smiled. "Then welcome to AuroraClan."
