The sun acts as a golden spotlight on the maroon carpet, signalling the time of day. Sunset always comes early at this end of town, skyscraper buildings nearby blocking out the setting sun before it dips below the horizon. Magnolia is nested into a corner in the back, separated by indigo satin panels. She used to offer her tarot readings up front, but the unadventurous patrons wounded Magnolia’s pride.
