Where is your favorite place to be and why: I grew up near the coast, so there's something insanely calming to me about being on a boat, particularly a sailboat, and being able to feel the rocking of the deck beneath my feet. I love to listen to the waves and water trickling, the seabirds, and the sounds that just accompany being on deck: ropes sliding, wind gusting, the faint creaking of wood or fiberglass. There's also something to be said about the pressure changes before a storm, as the boom of the sailboat swings wildly, and the sails rustle as you quickly bring them down, and the hurrying to place rubber bumpers that squeak as you drop them around the boat so others who lose control don't mess your boat up as badly as they otherwise might. It's.... I guess it's an aesthetic? A form of nostalgia. I've not been able to sail in 12 years now, since I now live four hours from the coast, and I miss it every day.

(The boom is the heavy beam beneath the mainsail. It's called the boom because "boom" is the last thing you hear and feel if you don't keep an eye on it and it hits you, since you are going OVERBOARD.)
