”I don’t wanna lose you now, I’m looking right at the other half of me...”
Leilani stared out the train window into the rainy city, wondering vaguely if she’d ever find her other half. She hummed along to the song as she sat in her train seat, processing the lyrics for a moment. This is a bit more love-y than I remember, she thought. Then again, it had been ages since she’d had any time to sit and listen to her playlist. It was only now that she was traveling that she actually had time to listen to music.
”It’s like I’m a mirror, woah,”
“Excuse me, may I sit here?”
Leilani pulled out her earbuds and looked at who had spoken. It was a tall, disgruntled looking Viscet who was drenched from the rain. He was pointing to the seat next to her, which currently held her backpack.
“Yeah, sure,” She said, moving her backpack over so the Viscet could sit down.
“Thank you.” He sighed in relief and sat down, and Leilani got a good look at him before she put her earbuds back in. He was kinda cute, actually. Should I talk to him...? She wondered. You could finally find a date if you’re lucky. She glanced over at him. He was reading a magazine- the title read The Art of Digital Design. So he was interested in digital design? Now that was pretty cool.
Mustering up some courage, she decided to talk to him.
“So, what’s your name?” She asked, feeling her cheeks warm up a little bit.
“I’m Rory,” He responded with a smile. “You?”
“Leilani.” She smiled back in return.
“I see you’re interested in digital design?” She asked him.
Rory nodded. “Yeah, it’s what I do for a living, actually. Things at my business haven’t been goin so well recently though. Not a lot of customers.”
Leilani blinked. “What’s it called?”
“Eclipse Design Studio.” Rory pulled out a business card from his backpack and handed it to Leilani. She took it tenderly and turned it over in her paw, watching the little sun logo glimmer.
“Thanks, I’ll check it out,” She said, smiling at Rory. He smiled back.
”Ladies and gentlemen, we are arriving at Station B, if this is your stop please gather your luggage and exit the train.”
Rory looked up at the ceiling where the announcement had come from over the PA, then back at Leilani, “Crap, that’s my stop,” he said, gathering his stuff. “See you around.” He left the seat before she could say goodbye, leaving her a little heartbroken.
[/i]About two moths later[/i]
Leilani collapsed into her office chair with a sigh. So much to do, so little time...
She reluctantly booted up her computer and opened her Photoshop program. She wondered how it felt to get a graphic design from someone instead of making them yourself...
Eclipse Design Studio.
Rory.
Leilani blinked. She hadn’t lost him after all.
She rushed into the kitchen and tore the business card out of her backpack, dashing back into the office and lamming it down into the desk.
With a new purpose she opened her browser and quickly typed in the website address on the card. A smooth, modern style website appeared with business information. Down at the bottom- the address. She could find him.
As fast as she could she scribbled down the address on a scrap peice of paper. It was at least two hours away, so she’d have to go tomorrow. That didn’t matter. She’d find him again.
Leilani took a deep breath as she hopped out of her car and into the small strip mall where the studio was located. She glanced down the row of buildings until she found the one that had the same shimmering symbol as the business card. Shaking herself a little bit, she pulled open the door.
“Welcome to Eclipse Design Studio, how may I help you?”
The voice she’s come to treasure was speaking to her again.
His eyes were focused on the screen of his computer as he worked, and though she couldn’t see it very well from this angle it looked like he was designing an orange viscet silhouette...
“Rory- it’s me, Leilani,” she breathed.
“Leilani?” He asked, startled, finally looking up from his work. “I never expected to see you here...” He faltered. “I’m glad you came, though, you’re certainly welcome.” He smiled shyly at her.
“I was wondering, would you maybe.. want to go out for dinner one night?” Leilani asked, blushing.
“Yeah! Yeah, that’d be awesome,” he replied, obviously surprised she’d asked him.
“Friday night alright?” She asked, silently squealing with joy.
“Yeah, meet me here at 7 I guess.” He grinned, very obviously blushing. “See you there.”
Leilani left the studio with a satisfied sigh.
Wasn’t it strange that a guy she hardly knew was the one she loved the most?
”You are the love of my life...”
