Koda exhaled as they looked into the mirror, fingers running through their
hair, playing with the blue, curly, strands. Their parents would definitely
not approve of the sudden change in style, especially when their tastes in
clothing changed from the girlish dresses and skirts to baggy, curve-covering,
hoodies and jeans. They did like their heeled combat boots, but that was the
only thing they now owned that seemed "feminine", though that was a stretch.
They sighed as they grabbed their bandages and carefully wrapped their chest,
covering that with a tank top, then a shirt, and finally a hoodie, all essence of
their femininity gone, at least visibly, despite their soft face.

Koda was feeling the pressures and anxiety of dysphoria grow as they continued
this for months, hiding their femininity helplessly instead of changing it so they
felt more comfortable in their own body. One day, they finally gained the cour-
-age to speak with their family, even a few close friends, confirming what their
parents would later slander as "their worst nightmare". Koda wanted to transition,
they didn't feel like themselves in their own body, they felt alienated and depressed.
Koda continued, relentlessly begging for help from their parents, who in turn just
pushed them away or shunned them, until finally Koda was kicked out of their ho-
-use as soon as they reached the legal age.

Koda was devastated and broken, having been cast out by everyone who they could
trust. Luckily, Koda had a small job at a local cafe as a waiter and barista, where they
had a few people who supported them there, which made them somewhat happier,
though they missed their true home that they were raised in. They were determined
to help themselves, but ultimately they wanted their family to see that that was who
they were, and to accept them as, well, them. They worked hard and saved up enough
money to start their testosterone shots and slowly after the course of quite a few years
they finally had transitioned fully. They weren't ashamed of themselves at all, they were
more confident, energetic, and even more so genuinely happy, or as about as happy as they
could be. Koda slowly reconnected with their family and friends, at first electronically,
and then slowly face to face. The disgust their closest companions had formerly felt slowly
shifted into pride and happiness at how both their child, and their friend, grew into. Koda
reconnected with their family and their bond is repaired, if not even stronger now than
before, and yes, they convinced their family to go to a pride festival with them and they
surprisingly loved it.
