The history of my world, hm. An interesting thing indeed. My original history had no pain, no war, nothing bad. Everything was perfect, for almost everyone around. My kingdom has roots in the catacombs of the moon. My world lived in peace, until around 50 years ago, when the Earthlings launched themselves onto the moon. They broke into the homes and slaughtered my people. I was able to escape because my parents hid me on their ship.
would they change it?:
I would make it so that my kingdom wouldn't have died. I would have made it so that my pacifist brothers and sisters would have had weapons to defend themselves with. My kingdom would have taken over the Earthlings, and their lands. We would've come out at the top, and have it all.

Ljos, the Tennis Player

When Ljos was just a tiny viscling, she had big dreams of becoming an astronaut. She loved to daydream about blasting off in a rocket ship and exploring space. Her room was covered in posters and models of everything from fictional aliens to photos of nebulas. Any adult who was fortunate enough to hear all about Ljos' plans for her future found themselves charmed by her enthusiasm and ambition. Children often boast about their dream careers in the future, but Ljos was so determined that everyone around her was convinced she really could make it into space. Then, everything changed.
There was no obvious cause for it, but as Ljos reached adolescence, her spunky personality shifted completely. She became quiet and withdrawn, losing interest in everything that used to excite her. At first, everyone thought it was just teenaged hormones, but as it continued, her family worried for her health, so they sent her to a doctor. After some investigation, Ljos was diagnosed with depression. For her, it was torturous. As much as she wanted to hold onto her dream, she simply did not have it in her to care.
The doctor recommended that Ljos find a new hobby to help rebuild her motivation, and she began trying new things as often as her limited energy would allow. She tried running, painting, singing, gardening, and much more, but nothing made her feel excited in the same way she felt as a viscling when she thought about becoming an astronaut. Then, she discovered tennis.
Ljos was losing hope that there was anything in the whole world she would care about ever again, but she still wanted to keep trying. This doubtful resignation filled her as she gripped her tennis racket in her paw. Ljos stood on one end of the court, and looked over her partner on the other side of the net. The pink-furred viscet that faced Ljos shouted a warning that she was about to serve the ball, and Ljos nodded vacantly in agreement. Seconds later, the bright yellow ball was hurtling towards Ljos, and she swung her racket to meet it. With a satisfying thwack, the tennis ball sailed back over the net, bounced once, and was returned back to her. Again and again, Ljos hit the ball back and forth. The pink viscet who had offered to teach her was shouting all sorts of tips and encouragement, but Ljos ignored her. She was far too focused on the feeling. Ljos darted back and forth, gracefully rising to meet the ball each time it came to her. She was a natural, and more importantly, she was engaged. It had been what felt like eons since she felt so alive. Ljos played tennis every day since she first discovered her passion for the sport. She wants nothing more than to continue to play tennis daily for the rest of her life.

Tennis Forever

Few would be surprised if Ljos chose to change her past and erase the depression that stole her dream of becoming an astronaut. Yet, Ljos herself disagrees. While it is unfortunate that such a bright, enthusiastic young viscet was changed so thoroughly by their illness, Ljos never would have discovered tennis if she were not forced to find a new dream. She feels so engaged, focused, and confident when she plays, and she would never give up that experience for anything in the world. Ljos hopes that the more she plays, the more she will re-learn how to feel. She wants to be a better person for herself, and those around her. Ljos just needs to feel her wants in order to make them realities.

The Nature of Ljos

This independent viscet does not let anyone's rules or opinions sway her. She makes her own decisions for her own reasons, and can therefore be difficult to get along with at times. Ljos can be infuriatingly difficult to try to control, so she tends to make friends more easily with viscets that are happy to let her do her own thing.
Her first impression is not always the best, since she rarely displays any emotion and tends to speak in a monotone voice. It is easy to see her apparent lack of interest and blatant disregard for the words of others, and come to the conclusion that Ljos is cold and uncaring. She certainly is not the demonstratively affectionate type, and Ljos is less communal than most, but she does have her soft side. Ljos will bond closely with her chosen few, and she would do anything in her power to keep them from harm.
As much as her actions would indicate the contrary, Ljos does appreciate company and will get lonely if left alone for too long. When Ljos is in the mood to socialize, she will find a person or group of people that interest her and stand intently nearby, waiting to be acknowledged. Since she is a particularly quiet walker, she often startles others without meaning to.

winter gazed at the old framed poster hanging upon the wall. his brows furrowed as he stared at it. there he was, skating gracefully across the ice, the spot light struggling to keep up as he prefirmed with his figure perfect. he was the most popular figure skater in viscet history. now he wouldn't even go near the ice, else he'd have a panick attack. the memory of loss and humiliation haunted him and followed liked a shadow. the pain he had felt then would never leave him, he knew that, yet he longed to be on the ice again.

would they change it? ||
though winter still regrets his past and pain, he loved figure skating and always will. his memories of skating light up his heart as he remembers skating across the ice, it often felt as if he were flying. on the ice he was free, he was at peace. the fall he had taken however, blackened those memories if he thought about them too much. like thick black ink that spilt onto white paper, spreading and taking over till the words written could no longer be read.
