cat's name: Sunstorm
cat's age: 48 moons
cat's gender: she-cat
cat's rank: warrior
clan thread: rippleclan"What should her name be, Mosscreek?"
A cream and white tabby lifted her head to gaze up at her ginger and white pelted mate, smiling. Three bundles lay at her belly, two unmoving and the third moving weakly. The she-cat herself was now weak, and it appeared to be the worse outcome - Mosscreek, who was once a warrior, seemed certain that his mate wouldn't make it...what could he do? He was no medicine cat.
The tom touched his nose to her head in comfort, forcing a smile. "How about Sunkit? She'll grow up...and she'll have to be the brightest, won't she, Star?" he murmured. "And it matches with your name, my love. Sun is also a star, is it not?"
The she-cat gave a soft purr and nodded, gazing at her kit before going to gently nuzzle the kit as she began to nurse.
"Sunkit...the perfect name for a perfect kit."
Star passed mere hours later, too weak to keep going, and leaving her kit without a mother. Fortunately, she and Mosscreek had been travelling with the mothers sister, Topaz, who had recently weaned her own kits. With just enough milk left, she offered to nurse the kitten until she was strong enough to be moved to prey.
From the moment her mother passed, Mosscreek had decided they would travel, and go back to his home clan, Rippleclan.
Sunkit managed to survive, and began to travel with her father at the age of four moons. He would tell her all about clan life, as well as his family - mentioning he tried to be a much better father than his own was. They were moons away from the territory, it had taken Mosscreek several moons to get here in the first place, and at first glance it appeared to be a big journey for only a four moon old kit.
But the kit had to endure, and whatever she couldn't walk, her father would carry her. They went through many two-leg nests, and met many cats along the way - many were kind and offered shelter, while the rest were rude and hostile, chasing Mosscreek and his kit off - he couldn't afford to have a fight, with a young kit to care for.
They only rested at night - and left at first dawn, to make the most of their time. They reached the territories of Rippleclan and the surrounding clans when Sunkit - now Sunpaw, was twenty-four moons old. Her father had been unable to think of a good warrior name for her, and with the tom getting older she didn't want to bother him. Now she was often hunting for the two of them, allowing the old tom to get some rest for once. They were almost there - and Mosscreek stated that he would retire once they reached the clan - he was too old for warrior duties - and he entrusted Sunpaw to do her best once they got there. Even if he was born in the clan, there was no promise they would be welcomed so easily.
Sunpaw had been taught how to hunt and fight by her father - like a true apprentice. Surely, the clan wouldn't turn down someone they would no longer have to train?
A thunderpath was all that stood between Sunpaw, Mosscreek and Rippleclan territory. The she-cat's gaze nervously flickered between the black strip that monsters sped past on, to her father, who gave her an confident nudge with his nose.
"We've crossed these before...just remember, look before you run."
The she-cat nodded as he then told her to cross first, crouching beside the thunderpath. Many monsters sped past, and she only dashed across when an opening appeared. Making it to the other side safely, the white and cream tabby turned, waiting by the trees and staring across at her older father. The tom did the same, waiting for an opening before he dashed - however, he miscalculated.
Mosscreek managed to tumble over his own paws and fall onto the thunderpath with a thud, his orange and white tabby fur bristling. In a panic, Sunpaw jumped to her paws, seeing her father frozen on the road as a rumbling grew louder and louder.
"Monster!" Sunpaw yowled, her tail bristling as her father staggered to her paws, his eyes meeting hers.
That was the closest Mosscreek got to his home. The tom had passed due to injuries only the next day, despite Sunpaw's efforts to save him, with her low knowledge on herbs. She became upset and infuriated - if only she had helped...if only it had been her instead.
She had buried her father by the thunderpath, marking the spot with a few sticks, and sitting through a night vigil for him, wishing good hunting in Starclan. She could very well stop her, head home or on her own journey. If she wanted to, for she now had no reason to go to the clan her father had called home. But she couldn't give up, this was her fathers dream, and she wanted to do her best to make him happy - she always had. The ways of clan cats had been bound to the young she-cat. She wasn't about to give up, not when she was so close.
"Who are you?"
It was raining, the she-cat waiting patiently by some trees - she knew a patrol was bound to come by, to mark their territory and spot the cat. Even in the rain, the middle of the storm, they found her sitting calmly and waiting their arrival.
"I wish to join your clan, as my fathers dying wish." Sunpaw rose her head to stare at the five cats on patrol - more notably a dark pointed tom who was the head of the patrol. His green eyes scanned her own blue and orange gaze.
Thunder rumbled overhead as the she-cat remained silent at the toms question, his clanmates growing restless. It was when the tom turned to leave, that she opened her mouth.
"Sunstorm...my name is Sunstorm."
