Those who wander cannot advance; their lights are too weak to override the darkness that lingers ahead. Only one light may lead the way, guiding those throughout the dark filled land. Leading them to the vibrant land full of hope, love, warmth, and lastly, light. But who is this light? That is the question. Look yonder, do you see that? A light is coming towards us, is this the light we seek? Only time will tell as we venture further throughout this sorrowful land. Slowly making our way to the land where dreams come true. All hope is restored and everyone seems... Happy. Please, take my hand, this journey may be long. And no matter what happens, we have each other. You are the light, the sign of hope. You lead us on, make us strong and continue with all of our problems solved. You light our world when everything seems dull. You are here because you care, you wish for everyone to live peacefully and calmly. You search for answers, but you realized the true answer; your heart is the light. The valley walls closed in around the figure as they made their way through the darkness. A gripping chill spread through the night and a distant howl could be heard echoing against the rock structures. No moon shown in the sky. No star broke the dark veil that lay draped over the heavens. That veil stood as a reminder of how far away the light was. How far away the goodness was. How far away the hope was.

The figure stumbled along down the deep path, empty and broken in more than one way. Their stomach no longer had the energy to growl and their feet no longer felt the need to remind the figure of their pain. All thought had left their body through the gaping crack in their heart. Their eyes could no longer focus on the pitch black surroundings. Instead, their hands limply reached out to connect with anything before them.

As they reached out, the world fell away.

They tumbled down a small slope into more darkness. No sounds could be heard but the scraping of skin against rock and a thumping as the figure continued to fall.

After what seemed like hours, the figure slumped onto even ground. They attempted to stand, but could not find the energy to do so. But what was the point? Where were they going? What would fighting to keep going achieve?

They had no answers to these questions and no motivation to find them.

In that darkness, the figure lay. Empty. Broken. Hopeless.

They had no idea when the morning would come, but what guarantee was there that it would?

In that moment, the figure did not wish for food, healing, strength, or help. They wished for a single star. A single light of hope to push on. {299/300}

The dark place is forbidden. Everyone steers clear except the demons, who are drawn in by the darkness. The darkness gives them power and strength to cause havoc and terror. They trick children into the dark place and steals their souls. They force the children to torment other children. It's terrible, really, the parents are unable to save their children. Once their souls are used, the children disappear, never to be found again.
