About
Bates is the loving one. He's always willing to put others before himself. He'll go the extra mile just to make someone happy. Though he's the quiet type at times he can be outgoing especially when he's with Thaddeus. Those two are like peas in a pod. Doesn't really miss his old life working at the bakery living everyday in fear he loves the adventure he gets to go on now. Ask him his favorite adventure he'll tell you the time when I had to save Thaddeus his grandmother's kisses. But all in all Bates is a lovely and kind Viscet.

How He Got His Armor

It wasn't very long ago that I joined the Soul Society. It's an interesting tale so if you want to hear please sit down, it might take a while.
I once lived in the mortal world along with humans and other Viscets. Until I met him. I lived on my own, I didn't have parents, I didn't have siblings. I didn't really have anyone to look over me. I was all on my own, alone to face the world. I'm not sure when or how I got abandoned I don't really remember, I decided to block out those memories long ago. I lived and a little shack in the forest. It was well....it probably needed to be condemned. But it's the only place I had to go to. I worked at a little Bakery, I baked bread, sold it ,delivered it. I didn't get paid a lot but it was better than nothing. It was in the evening and I was on a run delivering some of the bakeries famous fresh toasty bread. I was just trotting along the sidewalk until I bumped into someone making me drop all the items in my bag tarnishing the bread. I quickly apologized and picked up the items and when I looked up they were gone I had no idea where they had gone. They just seemed to disappear. But they left one thing behind it looked like a little patch with a skull on it, a weird diamond shape skull. I decided to pick it up and hopefully I would run into them again so I could return it, but oh that I quickly regret picking it up. Because as soon as I touch the old rugged cloth hideous monster appeared before me. I didn't know what to do I just froze in fear never have I been put in this position before. I just curled up in a ball and hoped for the best for or it would be over soon quickly I would have to go through any pain. But then what happened next surprised me and blew my mind. As I was cowering in fear someone showed up and jumped in front of me slicing the monster and half causing it to burst into black smoke and particles. Then they turned around and said "You better be careful, there's monsters out here. Oh I think you have something of mine by the way." Looking down into my paws I see the little badge quickly handing it back to him and bowing my head thanking him and what happened next was really bizarre. He looked at me smiled and then disappeared in to smoke? I wasn't really sure my mind was just thinking of a million possibilities of what just happened. I decided to shake it off, everything was fine so I could just go on with my delivery. But looking down at the wet and soggy bread that fell into a puddle I side. I couldn't deliver . So I went back to the shop and apologize to the owner and I got fired. It was my fault after all, I should have been more careful. On my way home before seemed to grow darker and I started hearing things and I swear I saw shadow creatures passing through the bushes and red eyes peeking behind trees. I quickly dash to my house and hid under my bed I was too afraid. I didn't know what to do, I cried. And I fell asleep like that until I woke up the next morning. I woke up being carried by someone they felt very soft and fluffy and I just wanted to snuggle up in their fur. Opening my eyes I see it's the mail from last night. Jumping out of his arms I stutter not knowing what to say he just Chuckles. "Calm down I'm not going to hurt you...last night, you wernt supposed to see that creature." He says to me looking at me. He looked around my age ,young but had a brave and daring look in his eyes. He had a sword strapped on his back and the badge strapped on his upper arm. After he explained to me that Mortals could not see Hollows he said that there is something special about me and he was taking me to the soul Society. I was too shocked to say anything so I just nodded my head. I mean any other person would probably freak out and say no, but hey I did nothing else to do in my life. So I followed him. I honestly don't really remember how we got there he just kind of opened up a portal like thing and we hop through. And on the other side seem to be a village nothing out of the ordinary. Or normal village. We walked through the village and came to a wall very long wall. With small doors pulling his sword out he put it against the wall in the doors opened. When we steped through there were many tall building and others dressed in robes and other Viscets which had swords on their backs. They looked shocked. I could hear some of them whisper "why is Immortal here?" And "why does Thaddeus have that mortal with him?" I had no idea was going on as much as they did. I just followed this male named Thaddeus. He led me to this tall and long building. We stopped inside and we were greeted by others like him that were dressed like him and had that same look in their eyes. And they all just stared at me they didn't say anything but they just stared. As we walk down the hall we come to a stop and they're sitting in a chair older-looking versed. His fur tattered and messy, he looked tired. He looked up at me and slowly opened his eyes slowly. He opens his mouth to talk and the words flow out of his mouth "Hello there Bates. Welcome to the soul Society. Thaddeus here has told us what happened the other night and we told him to retrieve you because there's something special about you." He slowly gets up from his chair and walks words to me and grabs my paw and pulls me along with him Thaddeus following behind us. He brings me to the room with stone walls and paintings all over them showing his dad some battling and these creatures I believe that is called Hollows? And the old man said "Long ago there was a prophecy one more Reaper would be the chosen one. Help protect the other sole Society in no way any other Soul Reaper could. And we believe that you are that Chosen One." He motions me to follow him and I do and he takes me to another room we're in a glass case is beautiful shining armor. And he says to me "This is what the chosen one shall wear. If you are not the chosen one the armor will reject you and we will have to erase your memorIes of this place and send you back to the human realm" I walk up to the armor and gently touch it and with a flash of light close my eyes opening them back up and under something armor is gone but then I feel heaviness on my body looking at my arms and feeling my head I noticed that I'm wearing the armor. The elder smiles and says "I knew you were the chosen one. Now we shall start your training. You shall protect the soul Society." And now I've been here for a few years and I've learned a few things like the Soul Reapers age slower. They can live for thousands of years and they said I have that power now too. I'm still confused of how this whole protection thing works but I just go along with it. Me and Thaddeus became best friends. I'm the shy and quiet type and he's the outgoing and adventurous type we still get along. We go on missions together and fight evil. It's awesome! I have to say I'm very thankful for happened to me that night. I wouldn't have run into him I wouldn't be living this adventurous life.

"I was young. Almost too young to remember. Almost."

It was a dark night. Clouds rolled over the moon, thunder and wind shaking the sky and the trees that reached out towards it.

"I didn't understand. I wish I had, my life might make some sense."

Whispers carried into the wind, coming from a inside of a cave at the bottom of a jagged mountain so high you couldn't see the top. Two parents paced the length of the cave, fur ruffled and blood and scars zigzagging their fur. "They want her." The male, the father, growled, pointing at the confused bundle of fur in the mothers arms. "I say we give her up."

"I remember feeling the anger and terror rolling off my so called father in waves. I remember my mothers stress and fear, not for herself, but for me."

The mothers stress snapped and turned to anger. "I would rather die." She hissed, setting the bundle down in some ragged blankets and approaching the father with seething anger. "All we did was for her. We knew the risks she would have this... interesting power. We are not dropping everything and abandoning her. She growled and returned to her child, watching her. "Maybe... abandoning her is the best thing. They won't be able to track her." A shocked silence followed.

"You see, I was gifted and cursed with a power. I can read emotions and see ones movements before they do it. Somebody was after me. I don't know who, because whoever they are hasn't discovered me."

The mother sighed, wanting to argue but knowing he was right. "Get ready to go. I must give my child her gift." Dipping his head, the father disappeared to pack while she began to start a fire. The embers burned brighting as she melted metal, shaping it with her paws, ignoring the searing pain on them.

"I assume my mother didn't want to leave me completely defenceless, even though I have turned out to be quite the fighter, with or without the armor."

When the metal cooled, the mother, tearing up, strapped the armor to her child. She looked into her eyes and whispered secrets, lots and lots of them till dawn. The father returned, bags strapped to his back, he passed one to the mother, which she slipped on before hugging the little girl in armor. "I love you." With that, they were gone, into the day. The child wailed before wandering off, realizing that this was the time for survival.

"I do not remember the secrets I was told. I remember the determination to survive as I walked away, armor that I now almost always wear strapped on me."

I am so sorry for taking so long on this. I actually won't be too active for a few days as I'm about to go on a trip and, since I gained some requests, I am going to be extending this for when I get back. That makes the end date on the 10th. I am so sorry again guys but, since I won't be able to judge until this weekend, I'll be extending it one last time. It will end this Friday at 11:59 EST EXACTLY so any forms posted beyond this time will not be counted. Again, I am super sorry and I know there's really no excuse but I've had some stuff happening this week that's left me pretty busy. This will be the last extension however. I pinky promise.
