• Name;
Calliope - inspired by one of the nine Muses and minor goddesses who entertained the gods at Mount Olympus. Calliope was the Muse of Epic Poetry who greatly influenced the development of liberal and fine arts in ancient Greece.
• Gender; Female ♀
• Writing of their favorite place;
Our starting point is the stunning, yet small living quarters of the mysterious character that is Calliope. Situated on the fourth floor of an apartment block on the corner of a quiet (ish) street in the outskirts of Ioannina, Greece, the suite is not exactly modern, yet not exactly antique either. Rather, it sits comfortably in the middle of the spectrum. Upon entering, it is like you have stepped through the 4th dimension and into a parallel universe. Instead of being in the present, you are now 100 years into the future. Pristine white walls surround the lobby that are blanketed in the modern art of Greece. Intriguing marble statues and extremely pleasant sofas litter the area for all to admire and take comfort in. The newly-renovated floor is a jigsaw of stone, which makes paws and claws click whenever trotted upon. However, by looking at the outside you could have sworn you travelled 100 years back into the past. Large limestone pavers consider themselves the central foundation of the building, while a beautifully crafted entrance welcomes you with a big smile. Stone pillars stand like guards on each side of the dark cherry double-doors, which are decorated with an intricate cast iron design. Even the little things such as the stone pathways, old lamp posts and surrounding stone structures give an indication of how preserved this place is. All this stone means that there is always a lingering scent of wet moss, which catches Calliope by surprise from time-to-time. Although she doesn’t mind it, if she had the opportunity not to smell it, she would snatch that right up.
Whenever Calliope intends to visit her favourite place, she does so with a spring in her step. Although Calliope has a busy schedule, she is always excited when she finds the time to go to Giannopoulos Clocks and Repairs- the largest clockwork distributer in Ioannina. However, to get there, Calliope must walk a maximum of 30 minutes from her apartment. After trotting through the buildings large exit and entrance point she takes a left turn and walks for 15 minutes before coming to what could be classed as her ‘second favourite place.’
On the corner of a street that is always populated with Kalons resides a small, local café known as Cinnamon Temptation. The café is well known for their variety of menu items that contain the ‘secret’ ingredient: cinnamon! There is an assortment of sweet and savory, ranging from cookies and pastries, toast and burger, and everything in between. There is also a plethora of beverages containing cinnamon that can be purchased: milkshakes, coffee, tea and smoothies. However, being on the edge of a busy street and packed to the brim with passing Kalons, couples, or those ones who need their coffee boost in the morning, the cafés reputation isn’t quite the best. Many outsiders will take one look at the café and think that the noise just bounces from wall to wall, never to see the light of day. Yet, this is incorrect. Upon entering Cinnamon Temptation, the outside noise reduces so much that if you tried hard enough, you’d be able to hear a pin drop. Of course, there are Kalons within the café that have conversation, so a little bit of sound cannot be avoided. However, everyone has the decency to converse with their indoor voices. This is the key reason why Calliope is so drawn into this business; other than the phenomenal ‘Cinnamon Roll Smoothie’ that the café creates. It tastes like a real cinnamon roll, but without all the added sugar! Absolutely divine, according to Calliope.

With a smoothie in her paw, a sparkle in her eye and the breeze galloping through her hair, Calliope walks from Cinnamon Temptation straight to her favourite place: Giannopoulos Clocks and Repairs. About 15 minutes with a few left and right turns, if she isn’t too busy watching the world around her. Calliope has a terrible habit of becoming oblivious to her surroundings as she focuses on one aspect of nature that either inspires, or intrigues her in some way. This can run the airhead into trouble- literally. Calliope is a bank full of stories of running into lampposts, benches and even other Kalons! It isn’t rare to see bruises or head-eggs obscuring her body like the measles would a small child. Although there are bruises on her skin, they’ll never leave a mark on her spirit.
With that, we’ve finally made it to our final destination, the treasurers utopia. At the end of the street, a right is taken which opens a whole world bursting with antiques, collectors’ items and the most important of all: Giannopoulos Clocks and Repairs. Either side of the street is lined with both stores and stalls, selling all sorts of different nicks and nacks. Unlike your typical street market, this one does not sell any food. As unfortunate as that sounds, the wide variety of objects that are sold throughout the street makes up for the culinary absence. Throughout these stores and stalls, you may stumble across antique vegetable pins that link to the 1400's, but no real vegetables will ever be seen around. Why's that? Calliope honestly had no clue, but she can only assume that it's something to do with the rules and regulations of the land that they are on. It is also fair to say that Calliope doesn’t have the time to contemplate these rather… useless things when she has something more exciting on her mind.
With a more enthusiastic step, the female approaches her favourite place with a toothy grin, accompanied by the not-so-rare smile-eyes. Nearing the end of the street is a large post with a hanging sign, reading ‘Giannopoulos Clocks and Repairs.’ Below, on the stone-cold footpath, is a smaller sign that reads ‘All are welcome!’ She is enlightened by all the memories and stories linked to the incredible clockworks shop, making her heart theoretically smile with the influx of joyfulness. Like her apartment block, the store is constructed with large, heavy sandstone bricks that accept all; whether they are locals, tourists, or just regular Kalons passing through. The pale orange-cream colour of the bricks make the place feel warm, comfortable and most of all, welcoming. Two glass doors, rimmed with gold, stand guard of the clockwork shop. Upon closer inspection, the words ‘Giannopoulos Clocks and Repairs’ are engraved in decadent, cursive writing. Essentially, the mixture of the old stone foundation and the modern glass doors creates a marvellous paradox between two eras.
Pushing through those surprisingly heavy glass doors, you enter a world where time is, quite literally, endless. Grandfather, banjo and cuckoo… just some of the different styles that lace the walls and shelves of the store. Whether you’re looking for a clock powered astronomically, digitally, with quartz or even with sand, this store has it all. From antique to modern, handheld to standing; there is something to suit everyone’s style and personal needs. Calliope is always in utter awe, and struggles to believe that the place is even real, and not a figure of her imagination.

Name; Viviane
Gender; female
Art/Writing of their favorite place; Viviane truly lives up to her well deserved name, the lady of the lake. She was born from the sea and is rarely seen away from its gentle coast line. She often sits on the cliffs right above the lapping waves, watching the birds fly over head or taking in the sent of the ocean. Sitting on the ledge gives her a sense of power, of worth in a world of millions like her. She doesn't do much other than sit there really, very few souls have actually seen her leave that one area.
You'd think she'd grow bored of only watching the waves all day, withering away by the seashore, but you would be wrong. She never shows any sign of it getting old. She'll sit there, just sitting and looking out. Never speaking a word to any passerby's, only looking at fish swim below her feet. The wind blowing through her long, soft fur. If you didn't know much better you may actually believe she lived on that cliff side, even those who've known her question her actual home.
What does she actually see in the sea is a question often asked to her. She never replies and no one really expects a reply from the lady, she hasn't uttered a single word, let alone sentence, in years. Most imagine her a lonely widow at first glance, maybe she lost a loved one at this cliff? Though no one knows the real reason for her reason of staying her, most like to believe something of large significance in her life happened on this cliff side.
Extra(s) ;
I never meant to cause this, I never meant it one bit, my dearest. She sat on her cliff as usual, looking, scanning the horizon above the ocean. She'd sat here as a sort of tribute since the accident occurred. It hurt staying there each an everyday, but he deserved this from her. If she had not caused this he would still be here, sitting next to her. She'd perhaps be reading him a story from his favorite book, or maybe making him his favorite snack.
Neither of those were possible now though, thanks to her own selfish deeds. He was never one for material objects, he never cared for the rich, pampered life she dreamed to live. He was happy with their dirt hut, he was fine with it all. He loved working for his things, he was a true gift to the world. And what did she do about it?
He would have loved this cliff. He did love this cliff. He'd talk to her about what he spotted below, he'd show her the coolest seashell on the beach. He could find beauty in anything, even the insects that flew around his hair. He was a gift, her gift. She'd never forgive herself, that was clear. She'd never let herself forgive and move on. She deserved spending her life on this cliff side, without him, for the rest of her natural life. He would have wanted it this way.
He tried to keep her from the magic her mentor insisted she learned, the dark magic that would blacken her soul. She did not trust his judgement at the time, if she had perhaps he'd still be at her side. She learned to cast the darkest curses with the smallest beads her mother had given to her, and her father before that. She was a force to be reckoned with. She drew close to the water, grew obsessed with the waves. The final attempted he made to stop the darkness from consuming her soul was confronting her in her home, the water. Fatal mistake. In a blast of rage she turned him into the waves he stood in. She turned her son to the water itself. From that day forward she was to watch over him, to stay with him from the cliff side.
