Because the merles don't have owners yet, whenever their contest ends I'd suggest pming the owners then ^^

Chandler blinked up at the dog whoβd asked him the question β she was a pretty Afghan hound, her fur long and silky as she sat in front of him. βWhatβs my favorite place?β He repeated, his ears perking forward. βThatβs easy! The agility course.β
βThe agility course?β The femaleβs voice was smooth and fluid. βWhy is that?β
βOh, yeah. Itβs the best. I love it. My person, Suzie, takes me there all the time. We get to see other dogs, and I make new friends β like Lola and Sadie and Parker. I met all of them at the competitions. Theyβre all very nice. But I love it becauseβ¦β Chandler paused, trying to phrase it the right way. βItβs so much fun. I get to jump over things. The jumping is one of the best parts; the wind ruffles my ears and my paws are off the ground for a long moment. It feels like Iβm flying.
I also like the tunnels. Iβm in complete darkness for a brief moment, before I come out, and thereβs Suzie! Sheβs like the light at the end of the tunnel for me. I love her. Sheβs my favorite person. But, anyways. And then the ramps! You get so high up, and then you have to go back down, but youβre not allowed to jump down. Suzie and I worked on that one for a long time.
I think the hardest one is the seesaw, though. You have to wait for it to come down! And when we were first beginning to learn about this stuff, I keep jumping off. I was a little scared at first. But now, Iβm not scared anymore. Itβs just that sometimes I get a little too impatient and want to jump off, but I know I canβt. So I wait. And I get ribbons at the end! I have a few blue ones, and a couple reds, too. I like the ribbons β they make Suzie happy.β Chandler looked up at the female dog sitting before him.
βIt sounds like a lovely place,β She spoke with her silky voice.
βIt sure is,β Chandler agreed.
Extra writing ;;
Chandler crouched in the grass, his muscles tense and trembling with excitement. Suddenly, his human began moving, her signal to him to begin. Chandler launched into action, racing across the ground. Reaching the first obstacle, he leapt over the beam that was high off the ground, his paws not even brushing the pole.
He heard his human give a word of praise, but he wasnβt paying attention, not really β approaching the next object in his path, the dog began to weave through the poles standing in the ground, his fur barely brushing them. Chandler could hear his heart racing in time to his paws smacking against the ground as he darted up to the seesaw.
This was the hard part. The impatient dog always struggled on this one, his paws jittery as he waiting for the balance to shift and drop the other side to the ground. Thereβd been numerous times where heβd instead leapt off early, disqualifying himself from competitions.
He dashed to the center of the wooden board, and paused, feeling the moment when the weight shifted and the other side hit the ground. Immediately, he darted off again, his tongue lolling with pride at himself for finally managing to wait long enough to complete the obstacle.
Chandler wasnβt even thinking now, instead running based on muscle memory β through the tunnel, over the ramp, down the ramp, jump over the pole, weave through beams, another tunnel, one more jump β until finally, heβd reached the end of the course, his human squatting at the end with a smile on her face and her arms open. The dog let out a joyous bark, leaping towards her and licking her face. He could practically smell her joy as she cooed over him, scratching just behind his ears as he liked. βAlright, buddy,β She hummed at him. βNice job, yeah? You did great. Good boy,β She kissed the top of his head, and clipped his leash on.
Chandler stood and shook off his pelt, panting slightly as he trotted with her to the sidelines. They watched together as more dogs participated in the course β a pretty Dalmatian, a hyperactive beagle, a mixed breed of some sort. Soon, the competition was over, all of the human-canine pairs standing in a row, awaiting judgement. Chandlerβs tail lashed the ground, his butt wiggling underneath himself.
The judge, a slightly elderly man who seemed to wear a perpetual smile, walked up to the group. βYou have all done very well,β He spoke loudly, the use of a microphone not necessary. βOur third place winner isβ¦β Someone behind him at a table pressed a button, and an artificial drumroll started up. βSadie the beagle and Rachel, her human!β The beagle that Chandler had watched earlier suddenly leapt up, yipping cheerfully as her person picked her up, praising her to no end.
βIn second place, we haveβ¦β The drumroll began again, and when it stopped, the judge spoke again. βChandler the Catahoula Leopard Dog and Greyhound mix, with his human, Suzie!β Chandlerβs tail paused in its wagging as he heard his name, and then started up again, faster than ever. He turned, pawing at Suzieβs knees with excitement. She crouched down to his height, the words βgood boy!β and βyou did great, Chandler,β and even βI love you, youβre such a good boyβ pouring from her mouth. He let out a happy whine, licking her chin. βWe didnβt get first this time, buddy,β She told him, as if she expected a response. βThatβs alright though, yeah? You did amazing. Good job, Chandler.β His entire rear end wiggling with joy, Chandler turned and sat back down, his person standing up and facing the front again.
βFinally, our first place winner isβ¦β Again, the drumroll before he spoke again. βLola the Pit Bull and her person, Lucas!β A dog that had gone before Chandler hopped up from her laying position, a deep bark rumbling from her throat as she looked up at Lucas, eyes bright. βThis is her first time winning a competition, so please, everyone, give a round of applause to Lola!β The humans erupted into motion, hands smacking together as they clapped for the pair. Lucas had leaned down, his voice bright as he spoke to the dog. She let out another bark and then placed her paws on his shoulders, bowling him over. Lola stood over Lucas, licking his face, her tail wagging. The people laughed, smiles on all of their faces β even the people whoβd lost the competition. Chandler always loved seeing people happy, even if he hadnβt won the competition. βOur winners can come get their ribbons β and trophies β at the awards table. Thatβs all, folks. Have a lovely rest of the day!β
After most of the crowd had dispersed, Chandler and Suzie made their way to the awards table, the other pair of competitors standing there, too. βHi there!β Chandler woofed as he approached the other dogs, tail wagging. Above him, their people, too, had struck up a conversation. βIβm Chandler. You both did amazing!β His voice was bright.
βThank you,β Lola spoke shyly, her eyes drawn towards her human. βAlthough Lucas is the one who thought I could do it. I wouldnβt have been able to win without him.β She fondly bumped his leg with her head, then turned back to the dogs. βYou did fantastic, too β the seesaw? It was great.β
Chandler beamed with pride. βThanks!β He spoke, turning to look at the beagle. βAnd your weaving? Brilliant!β The female dog was sitting, taller than Chandler. βThank you,β She said, hardly able to sit still. Her entire body was wiggling with excitement. βYou, too.β
From above them, their owners each had something in their hands now. Leaning down, Suzie clipped a red ribbon to his bowtie-collar. βNice job, buddy. You did amazing.β Both other dogs now had ribbons, too, each one a different color. βYouβre all such good dogs,β Suzie said, patting both Lola and Sadie, too.[ 995 / 1000 ]
