Personality wrote:Trusting
Shield was always taught to follow orders and never ask questions, also giving him a great trust in higher ranking officers. He isn't naive and storm troopers under his command are always kept a close eye on. Shield is especially known for being able to easily spot a rebel spy. The problem is, he never bothers to ask questions about his superiors and trusts them blindly.
Introspective
Shield often looks back on his actions and how it affects others around him and trying to figure out the best path to take if the same situation where to take place. It often leaves him dwelling it the past, wondering what else he could have done, or how to act to get
a promotion.
Smug/conceited
Not being a humble 'cet, Shield has a huge ego. Often times he will brag to cadets about his success. However, he is easily -if only momentarily- put down higher ranking officials. Afterwards he retreats and sulks for a bit, then returns as vain and proud as ever.
Snide
Shield often takes pleasure in using subtle sarcasm on slightly dimwitted, disliked co-workers
anxious + Stressed
(stressed more then anxious, actually)
After a long day of work Silas often feels stressed and it doesn't help that he is easily riled up and aggravated. He will often get stressed and anxious when things don't go exactly as he plans and will occasionally have to excuse himself from the situation, then go freak out in a corner somewhere. This is likely Shield's least favorite thing about himself, as he strives to be cool and collected. He always feels relived when his shift is over and he gets to relax in his cabin and listen to music.
Loyal
Once Silas devotes himself to a to an ideal, person or thing he will see it through to the very end. (Unless it is a person and he finds himself above them in rank, then loyalty goes out the window.)
Honest
When it comes right down to it, Shield is honest and expects honesty because of it. He hates the idea someone could be feeding him false information and it always leaves him unsettled when he himself tells a lie, even if its a small one. Unfortunately his honesty hasn't earned him any favoritism from his superiors. (Admitting he was the one who accidentally caused an entire AT-AT to blow up is the reason he is a sublieutenant, not a lieutenant.)
Why he joined the empire wrote:Silas joined the empire mostly because his father was part of the Republic, but also because he sees the rebels, and the Empire and has sided with the Imperials due to him agreeing with the basic ideals of the Empire more then he did the rather chaotic rebels. He doesn't have a very deep reason. He just wants to protect his family, and the clearest way of doing that is to join the empire.
Backstory wrote:Silas grew up with his mother and his brother, Sonny. He grew up on a dessert planet called Abafar (Aka "the Void") It was a small town he grew up in.
Not many other viscling his age to play with. That was fine with him. Even as a young viscet he wasn't highly social. He mostly spent time taking care of his younger brother and spending time with his mother. He deeply loved his family and felt very protective of them. His mother was very soften spoken, warm and slightly nervous. His brother, Sonny, was always adventurous but always overestimated his own abilities and was a bit of a cry baby.
When Silas joined the Empire he was thrilled that he was accepted and the chance to make a difference. Due to his intelligence and eager to please/compliant nature he quickly completed his training and started to rise in the Imperial ranks

Short story wrote:I awake in my cabin aboard the large star destroyer. I chuckle to myself slightly. What a place to consider home. I stretch and glance at the small alarm clock. Time to get to work. After putting on my Imperial cap and adjusting my badge.
I couldn't deny I was slightly nervous for the day ahead. Our Captain, with the help of the Imperial Security Bureau, had located a rebel base on the planet of Onderon. We where on our way there now. I notice the hum of the ship's engines where a bit louder then normal. 'Captain must in a hurry' He though to himself. Shield opened the doors of to his room and stepped out into the bleak hallway of the ship as a line of storm troopers walked past in a steady march. He nodded to them absentmindedly as he continued on his way to command bridge. He wasn't fully clued in on what the plan and had to go over it with his commander. As he peeked through the sliding doors to the bridge he saw Commander Baothan starring off into stars from his window. He did that a lot. Probably contemplating the meaning of life or something, or a plan to not get us killed. "Sir?" I asked "You wanted to discuses strategies with me?" Baothan flicked his tail slightly. "Ah, yes. Shield" He turn to his office table and switch on a small image projector to show a map of Onderon. I tilt my head slightly and stare at the landscape. "After doing a bit of research," Baothan started "I've managed to narrow down the location of the rebel base to this world, more specifically the higher mountain range." He pointed to the tiny pixelated mountain on the map. I glance over to him. "Do you know how many rebels there are sir?" I ask. Baothan cast me cold glare. 'ah, I forgot He doesn't like being asked questions... pretty much like every Imperial officer I ever met" After a few moments of silence Baothen carried on. I'll take half of the men and move up along this side of the mountain, hopefully can draw them out while you and your men wait in this valley ready with the cannons" He motioned to the map with his tail once again. I nod, please to know I hold such a vital task, then pause. "I'm honored to take on this responsibility sir!" I say with restrained enthusiasm. The Captain just rolled his eyes. "Don't think too highly of you're self Shield, the only reason you are present is because the Empire is skeptical the base even exists, also the reason why they gave me some Sublieutenant then an actual Lieutenant..." He smirks as I growl slightly to myself. After talking a bit more in detail about what the troops had to do he dismissed me back to my quarters to wait until the ship arrived at Onderon. "This should be an interesting day" I mutter to myself.

When Shield was very young he stumbled by a small scrawny loth-cat on his way to school, because he was late to class already he ignored it and rushed on. The next day he saw the same cat again, and again the next day. On the fourth day of seeing the loth cat he decided to bring him some food next time. Unfortunately after that the loth-cat refused to leave Shield's side. Silas's mother agreed to let him keep the cat, as long as it was an outside cat and didn't come in the house very often. Yeah, that didn't last long.
Since Shield left for the academy Sonny has been doing his best to care the the loth-cat. (At the time Silas took the loth-cat in he wasn't really old enough to know to give it a name, so the loth-cat never got a proper name)
Hobby wrote:Whenever Silas visits a new planet he enjoys seeking out new little plants unique to the world so he can buy some seeds to make a small terrarium for the specific planet. The when he is done, he sends it to his brother so he can see all the planets he went to. Sonny loves this and constantly quizzes Silas on what kind of plants they are.

History
Shield adores history and will often spend all his free time reading about it. A favorite topic of his is the history of Mandalore. He finds the history, culture and current events surrounding it very fascinating. He is often perplexed why so much of it's history during the clone wars where so hard to find. Well, at least the good parts anyway. He also finds himself drawn to the history of the Jedi and Sith occasionally hacking to the Imperial database to find some answers about them that Empire seem to have hidden. Shield is sure there is a good reason for that, and trusts it. However, he studies it away, simply out of boredom and curiosity. He doesn't think of the Jedi as heroes, although he'll admit they where once a great society, but frowns at their actions during the clone wars... and obviously their betrayal at the end of it.
Music
Shield finds that music is one of the only things that sooth him when he is stressed and carries around a playlist of classical, chillstep and calming chant music.
His pet Loth-cat
Whoever said canines where man's best friend where certainly wrong. Shield loves his little feline friend.
Really just all Loth-cats.
Shield may be a imperial officer, but it has a huge soft spot for these small, adorable animals.
Being in control
As far as Shield is concerned, if you want to do something right, do it yourself. If you do it yourself, you can plan for things like others probably wouldn't and if it goes wrong you have no one to blame but yourself. He doesn't really realize the more power he has the more stressed he becomes.
His family
He loves his family and protecting them is one of the reasons he joined the Empire. He does regret that joining has kept him traveling, and gives him very little time to see them, although he is relived that he got off his home planet, Abafar.
Dejarik
(Kind of like a Star Wars version of chess)
Shield enjoys games like this, having to come up with a good strategy and stick with it. He is rather competitive and will insist on playing the other person until he wins.
Country music
It rather annoys Silas that very few people like country, yet it won't stop him from listening to come of the newest country hits at full volume from his room.
Dislikes:
Rebels
Of course, as a Imperial he would hate rebels but he just doesn't like the rebellious nature in general. He finds it very disruptive of his normal routine and inconsiderate to others around. Any cadet or storm trooper under his command so much utters a sarcastic or rude comment about him or any other higher ranking officer will find themselves put in their rightful place quickly. In Silas's logic, when your fighting an enemy such as the rebellion, you have to focus on staying a live, fighting, and following commands. There is no time to try to fight your superiors as well, for it a sure way to get yourself killed.
Loud noises
Unexpected loud noises never fail to make Shield jump , for he is forever on edge. Often times it will make him look like a nervous, overcautious fool in front of his commander.
Silence
Shield hates silence. True, he quietly enjoys laying in his bed. However even then there are sounds. The sink dripping, the noise of imperial boots marching along the hallway, the never silent bed springs, all blending into a low hum. Silence is never good. The silence of a storm trooper under question, as he hesitates to answer with his loyalty. The silence of an ambush right before it is sprung, when the birds have been scared off, no longer chirping and the wind slowly calming. The silence of a fallen storm trooper after taking a shot to the chest, when you know they will never speak again. It has come to the point where the slightest bit of silence puts him on red alert.
