    Story:
"Come on Jace! Get your slow ass up here now; you're going to miss it! Climb faster you goof ball!" I called down as I reached my hand towards Jace's, I watched as he was struggling to climb the vines that ran up our school walls and onto the roof. He gripped my hand and pulled himself up with his other hand also, almost knocking me off my feet.
"Language." He said while trying to get his breath back, he rolled back and forth and then finally settled for his back to lay on.
"Hush." I snapped and pointed upwards towards the sky. It was turning this amazing light blue slowly shading into pink, orange, and then this mysterious dark purple. I watched from the corner of my eye as he turned his head away from me quickly and looked up at the sky.
"You told me to hush.... because of the sky?" He huffed and pushed me over on my side.
I laughed quietly to myself while shaking my head slightly, I watched as a small flock of birds flew by us and I gasped in amazement. There were so many things right in this situation, the guy I have loved my whole life was laying right next to me - and yet he never knew it. It was a love hate relationship that I had with him, he never knew that I didn't like girls, so whenever he had asked me who was on my mind at that time, all I could think of was him. Those small meaningless moment where in the right moment the wind blew and his white hair would go all over his face and he would just sit there pouting and then seconds later he would flip it out of his way. Or the way he would bite his lip and flip his pen when he tried to focus on a story he was working on. Or maybe it's the way a lunch he would play his own weird music at lunch and dance to it, no matter who was watching and laughing.
"What's on your mind?" A soft voice drew me out of my thoughts and I saw that Jace had moved over to the railing of the roof and was leaning against it, staring at me with a slight smile on his face, his brown eyes shown as hazel in the lighting.
"Nothing. What makes you think there is something on my mind?" I said and placed my arm behind my back, sticking from my shirt was a small rose and I played with it nervously, slowly making my way towards Jace.
"This would be a perfect spot for a date, don't you think?" Jace spoke and turned around; I saw his shoulders move up and down in a slight sigh and I looked down at the floor.
"Someone on your mind then?" I asked warily, stopping just a few inches away from him.
He slightly laughed and shook his head, "Sorta." He quieted down and placed his hands on the railing, "You?"
    "Ya... actually." I said quietly.
    "Oh. Do I know them?"
"Yup. He has white hair and brown eyes. He usually dances really stupidly at lunch, but I don't mind that much." I looked up at him and saw that he has quickly turned to look at me with a shocked face. "He wears these white and greyish colored clothing, always has his hair in his face, and usually wrinkles his nose when he sees something he doesn't enjoy." I sigh heavily and pulled out the rose from behind my back and smiled up at him. "And he currently is looking at me with this adorable look on his face, and he probably doesn't even know it."
"Jack..." Jace spoke and grabbed at my hands, holding them tightly. "Don't." He whispered.
"Ja - Jace. I can't hide it anymore." I said and placed my hand carefully on his cheek, feeling the soft smooth skin, and I felt him take ahold of the rose and I let it go. He locked eyes with mine and we both smiled.
"I love you more than you will ever know." I said and leaned closer into him.
"Is that you also asking me to be your valentines?" Jace chuckled while leaning closer into me.
I nodded and kissed him softly.

This story is the version of Jack and Jace in human forum.

    Owner: INTERFECTOR
    Show Name: Whole Lotta Love
    Barn Name: Erasmus
    Gender: Stallion
    Age: 4 years
Halter color: the same as his ribbon
    Pearl/jewel color (halter): black
Story: She truly was a spectacle, something that would cause anyone to turn and observe in awe, and she was well aware of that. There was a certain air of snarky confidence that wafted from her in waves, captivating all and leaving them dumbstruck for the moments it took for her elegant stride to float her across the ground and beyond view once more. She was truly the embodiment of perfection. There was no question as to why she had been dubbed Aphrodite, that mythological goddess so clearly sculpted her with her own hands; from persona to external flawlessness, it all had been due to her peremptory orders and as it would be, all the effort put forth handn't been for naught. For if Aphrodite appeared impeccable to her peers, she truly ascended to the title of deity before her admirers.
The dawn had been one of exceptional vividity; songbirds chirped their morning's greetings and the air was crisp in the lungs having followed a light shower during the night hours, only a slight nip remained but it seemed rivalled by the intensity of the sun. In short, it was splendid, not quite perfect, but good enough to please. Era had awoken with an unusual spring in his step, giddy to begin the work day without a second thought. 'Why', you must ask, 'why would this otherwise introverted stud be thrilled to embark on a day jam packed with socializing?' as it would seem, the soultion to that particular riddle is none too hard to unravel; today was the day he and Aphrodite were assigned to carriage duty and, in perfect timing, the sacred Valentine's holiday was set for the next day. Brilliant timing on the owner's part, truly, as now Erasmus would have enough time to settle himself and build his confidence, chat with Aphrodite, then ask her to be his own, then they'd dash off into the sunset together and start a family and- gosh, wishful thinking at it's finest. The lad hadn't even exited his stall yet and he was assigning names to fictional foals. To be fair, he had been waiting for this opportunity for nearly three years, so it seemed only natural that he'd build up his expectations just a wee bit.
The morning slugged along at an agonizingly slow pace to Era - when in fact it was moving much the same as any other morning - as he pranced and made a show of himself, completely abandoning the anxious young colt front he'd become so acustomed to portraying; shedding himself of the shell he'd guarded himself with like a snake shedding an old skin, without a second glance. This chipper demeanor both influenced and concerned respective parties; Era's peers seemed perked by his out of character display, growing restless within their own stalls as the roan decidedly turned the barn aisle into a dressage arena, piaffing for brief moments alongside his puzzled stablehand. The stud maintained his antics all throughout his morning groom, turning what had once been a rather simplistic and relaxed task for the poor man seeing to it into something much more tedious and irritating. But it was completed, albeit in practically double the standard time, and Erasmus was ladened down with the barn's carriage gear before being ushered along for his shift.
Hijinks galore poured from within Erasmus without mercy as he followed after - or more so dragged - his caretaker along the gravel pathway that circled to the front of the barn. He continued to turn himself into a spectacle, urging any and all available eyes to turn and fall onto him as he hopped along at a gait bordering on a light trot, hindend fishtailing to the sides as he asked to move at a faster pace before being turned down, throwing gravel back behind him with each exaggerated step. Then the duo rounded the bend in the path and that warm thrill within Era's chest deflated, being replaced instantly by an all too familiar case of nerves. There Aprodite stood, just as lovely and proud as ever. Her pale coat gleamed in the morning rays as she huffed and shuffled impatiently. She was waiting on him. The thought shouldn't have struck him down the way it did, they were manning a two horse carriage after all, but it did. She was waiting on him and though this isn't how he fantasized it, this had to be a dream. Being yanked back into reality by a softhanded, assertive tug on the cheek of his halter, Erasmus discovered that he'd refused to move for several seconds. Instantly, obediently, the young stallion picked up a lax pace that seemed to further concern his stablehand. He was reluctant to move yet refused to stay this large a distance from Aphrodite, a peculiar feeling seeing as the closer he managed to get to the mare, the heavier that cold weight in his stomach became.
Nine years after beginning to gradually make his way across to the awaiting carriage and Aphrodite, Erasmus and his handler arrived at the destination. The entire world transitioned between moving far too slow and speeding by rapidly to the point he became naucious and his head spun. The humans conversed as they proceeded to adjust the required straps and buckles in order to accomidate for the stallion, but all the noise they were creating seemed drowned out as the first moment of interaction between the two fresians was initiated.
    "You're late."
Simply spoken with no filter placed before it, so the intended vemom seeped from the words and injected itself directly into Era's heart, turning him cold. Having no memory of his planned dialouge and with his head still twirlling like some sort of seasick ballerina, he only managed to urge out a snippet of an answer, one he'd have rather rethought. "Better than never." Honestly, he wouldn't have minded having the earth swallow him up the moments following his mouth opening, it would have been less embarrasing. As soon as his own voice registered in his head, Erasmus sobered. He turned to gaze at Aphrodite and she seemed less than pleased with his sass laced remark, her eyes visibly hardening as she tongued the bit within her mouth, face turning forward slowly, threateningly.
    "Never would have been better."
Now that stung. That comment dug directly under his skin and settled there. The whole idea of how this encounter would go flew out the window at this point and left Era loitering heavily on the spot with no script to follow. His nerves kicked into overdrive with the new sensation of rejection rearing it's ugly head. The tension that flared up between the two seemed immovable, almost as if it were crafted from steel. Today was going to be a long day.

No further conversation had even been given thought as the unconventional pairing started off along a rarely used backroad towards the downtown area they were ordered to work, their driver keeping them in check gently, humming along to some tunes that stuck in your head for weeks. Aphrodite was aloof, directing her attention upon nothing besides herself - though, that wasn't new. She set their pace and made no move to assure Erasmus would be able to mimic her actions. The stud's longer legs made it difficult at times to mirror such a short gait and lead to his shouldering a majority of the weight, nearly stepping on his own heels in order to remain in sync with the mare to his right. Upon hitting the old cobblestone road of the town's historic downtown area, Aphrodite's mood appeared to sour evermore; her ears remained pinned backwards towards the driver and she held her head high any time a person drew close to her, avoiding their touching her. This behavior puzzled Erasmus, who had shyly allowed for any to approach and stroke him, and made him wonder if pairing this mare with him had been rather intentional. Place a hot head with a submissive shy, and they'll level each other out. Or, that at least seemed to be the logic being utilized here.
By some small miracle, things didn't seem to worsen from there and actually seemed to turn for the better. The longer they were on the road, the more Aphrodite, and in turn Erasmus, loosened up. By the time they were being urged into a halt parallel to the sidewalk and their driven had clambered down from his perch atop the carriage, Era was attempting to string together the most appropite thing to say. He needn't, however, as the silence was abruptly interupted by Aphrodite's voice, "Do you have a date for Valentine's?".
It struck Era dumb. He really hadn't been expecting that to be what had emerged from her mouth. The roan peered from the corner of his eye at her like she'd sprouted another head, thankfully her eyes were still turned ahead of herself, so she was oblivious to his surprise. "I- uh, no. I don't." She hummed and looked off to her right, presumably searching for any sign of their driver. He felt like an idiot for allowing silence to fall over them again, and so he chirpped out a quick question of his own. "Do you?"
    "Nope."
She popped the 'p' rather loudly while forming the word, head rounding to face him fully. There was something in her eye, something resembling a knowing smirk, but she spoke nothing more, merely allowed her studious gaze to linger. Erasmus opened his mouth to reply with another comment, but was quieted as their driver returned. The young man settled quickly and clicked his tongue, and the two moved forward, silence falling over them both once more.
Their day wrapped up smoothly, at least on their interaction front, a few more off hand snippets of conversation - and even mild flirting originating from both sides - being held before dying out over and over again. One thing did persist, though; each and every time they were offered a sort of food, Aphrodite would request he refuse it so it would be given to her instead, and if a person were to appraoch, he was to draw their attention to himself so she would be left untouched, he complied with both requests, seeing nothing wrong with either. His willingness to please rapidly proved to be a weakness as Aphrodite's requests turned more and more violent. "Bite this child, snatch the bit, kick the carriage, snap the breeching dee." All were firm objectives set for Erasmus, and he attempted to fufill them all, which resulted in much disappointment being directed his way from the driver. He merely wished to please and though he was reluctant to follow through with anything Aphrodite asked, he managed to convince himself to do whatever it would take to get the mare of his dreams to say yes to his invitation of being his. So the reprocussions he recieved seemed worth it.
Of course, with Era acting out so much, the driver was forced to call their day short and return the entire carriage to the barn, effectively completing Aphrodite's silent wish. Both friesians were removed from the carriage and stripped of their gear before being reeased into the appropriate pastures. Erasmus instantly approached the fence dividing the stallion and the mare pastures, catching Aphrodite's eye before gesturing her over. She lifted her head, gave a roll of the eyes and sauntered her way across the green, halting just short of a foot before the fence, peering over at him with an unamused expression.
Era straightenedhis posture and inhaled deeply, squeezing his eyes shut as the words poured from his mouth, "Aphrodite, I was wondering if you'd like to be my valentine.". It honestly sounded more like a single word rather than a sentence, but the point seemed to get across to the mare before him. Silence persisted for a few beats before being shattered by a gentle giggle, then a somewhat loud laugh, Creaking his eyes open a sliver as his brows tilted downward in confusion, Era was brought the sight of Aphrodite tossing her head back and laughing at him. Directly in his face.
She paused her chourus of heartclenching giggles to firmly state, "Hell, no. I wouldn't have even considered you if you were the only other horse on the farm.". Well, alright then. Erasmus opened his eyes completely, his heart cold and heavy and gave a curt nod, turning on his heel and strodding along the fence line with his head held high. He felt..relieved, like he'd been hoping she would do exactly that. Despite being turned down, he felt as if he were walking on air. So much weight had just been removed from his shoulders and for the first time in a long, long time, he was seeing things clearly. Every color displayed out before him appeared so vibrant and full of life, and his eyes scanned his surrounding as if for the first time; noticing the insects buzzing and the flowers sprouting all around but mostly, he noticed the other mares within their pasture, just as beautiful and elegant as Aphrodite. Suddenly, the rejection seemed to have never happened as Erasmus gazed out upon those stunning gals and instantly felt his horizon broaden. Without Aphrodite clouding his view of things, the roan was able to begin his life, one free of that anxious young colt he'd been and filled with actual love. This was going to be a great day, not in the way he had planned, but in every way that he needed it to be.

Sweet Lullaby || Melody
Other Characters: Simple Obsession || Sierra (Melody's mother)

Beso's breathing quickened into rasps. "She'll hate it! She'll hate me! Oh, Sierra, what am I going to do? She'll say no. I know she will! I know sh-"
"Stop pacing, Beso! You're going to run a hole into the new wood floors! You know how much money Rose had to spend on those!" Sierra snorted disdainfully. "Give it up. You're worrying too much. Melody will of course say yes!" The seal brown mare dipped her elegant head low to stare into Beso's eyes. They were rimmed with white, and his body was heaving as he fought to control himself.
Sierra rolled her eyes. Never before had she seen such a stallion get this worked up.
"How would you know? Beso replied skeptically, his chest still rising and falling quickly.
"I'm her mother, for Equuleus's sake!" Sierra snapped. Her patience was running thin for this ridiculous stallion. He had been mooning after her only daughter since they were yearlings together, and Sierra had kept a close eye on him. She felt very protective of Melody, because she was the only mare out of her three foals, and her other two sons didn't live on the same farm as she did.
"Oh... right." Beso replied shamefully, lowering his head. Sierra's ears pinned back. "I'm so sick and tired of you complaining! Get on with it and ask my daughter!" Sierra shoved the stallion off his haunches and out from the shed into the main paddock. He dug at the ground in an effort to prevent himself from being pushed closer to his crush, who stood grazing peacefully nearby, unaware of the conversation that had gone on in the shed between her mother and Beso. Beso nearly dropped the rose he was carrying as he left rifts in the ground as he was being pushed.
"Move it!" Sierra hissed between clenched teeth. The seal brown mare stopped pushing him right next to Melody, who looked up and gave her mother a skeptical look. Sierra shrugged and turned away to watch from a safe distance.
"S-so.. h-hi Melody.." Beso stuttered, his eyes taking in the sheer beauty of the mare before him. She had a solid seal brown champagne coat with white markings climbing up her legs and rabicano scattered beautifully across her underside. Seafoam eyes blinked back at him with a look of mild curiosity and warmth.
"Hi, Beso. What's that you're carrying?" She asked, ignoring the odd way he had come up to her and the funny look Sierra was giving her from across the pasture.
"Oh.. this? It's.. it's a r-rose. I-it's for you, a-actually." Beso replied, dipping his head in a bow. He dropped the rose at her hooves and she leaned down to inspect it, her eyes sparkling as she realized it was freshly picked.
"Oh, thank you Beso! It's beautiful! But.. why did you give it to me?" She asked, her singsong voice flying through the stallion's ears.
"I... I.. I um.. I want to.. I want to.." He stuttered, his eyes widening and his heartbeat quickening as he realized he was stuttering. Panic flowed freshly over him.
Melody turned and placed her head on his shoulders, a gesture of love. Her eyes sparkled, she knew what he was going to ask.
"You want to ask me to be your valentine?" She said, turning her head so she could stare into the stallion's eyes as he turned his head, but remain resting on his shoulder.
"Y-yes.." He whispered, completely dumbfounded by this entire situation.
"Yes." Melody replied. "I will."
Sierra's joyful neigh interrupted the couple and they pulled apart, blushing as they realized that the older mare had been watching them the entire time.
"Mother!" Melody snapped, blushing as she realized Sierra was staring at her and laughing.
"I'm sorry, my mother can be a bit hard to handle sometimes." Melody grumbled as her mother trotted up, still snickering.
"My daughter's hooked up with the new guy!" She snickered, laughing as Melody shoved her into the shed and kicked the door, causing it to close and bolt up, locking Sierra in the shed.
"There! Now that that's taken care of, shall we be off, valentine?" Melody asked, taking a few teasing steps towards the far end of the paddock. Her voice rose in a song, and Beso followed, his heart pounding with fear and excitement.

"Tonight"

"Hello~," he approached her with a step in his stance, head raised high. When the palomino turned and looked at him, she flicked her ears backwards.

"You aren't continuing your silly little antics again are you?" She asked when he slid beside her.

"Yeeeesss...?" Mephisto lowered his head a bit but quickly raised it once more. "So, I was wondering if you wanted to come with me for a bite to eat!"

"No. This is the fifth time you've asked me this week." The mare deadpanned as she swished her tail in our protagonist's face, making him startle back a tad, and walked away. Mephisto sighed in defeat, his head lowering back to the ground. A black stallion walked over to him, ears pricked. He lowered his head to find Mephisto's eyes.

"Rejection again?" He asked knowingly.

"Yes..."

The stallion looked around, "Who have you not asked out yet?..." Mephisto merely scoffed at the question. With a sigh, the stallion suddenly spotted a Fleabitten horse walking out of a trailer. "Woah, who's she?"

Mephisto raised his gaze and caught eye of her, lifting his head a tad. "Must be someone new."

"Obviously Sherlock." His friend teased and trotted away towards the fence to get a better look at her. Mephisto sighed and cantered after him, honestly quite interested himself. "Hello," the black stallion greeted, "what's your name?"

"Ruby," she answered kindly. It's a common name, but Mephisto can get over it.

"I'm Jorgan and this is my buddy, Mephisto." He answered back, politely waving his head to his friend. "As a welcome, Mephisto was wondering—" Mephisto, caught off guard, jolted to look at Jorgan— "if you wanted to have a graze in the bigger pastures. Y'know, get to know everyone."

She stared at him for a moment before, "Do you know why I'm here?"

"No?" Both stallions said in unison.

"I'm pregnant." She deadpanned, turning to follow the human guiding her. Jorgan suddenly jerked his head down in embarrassment as Mephisto let out a loud laugh.

As Mephisto calmed down, he sighed heavily, "Thanks anyways."

"That was totally random!..." Jorgan hoarsely pushed out. Mephisto smiled and rolled his eyes.

"I'll just have to deal with it. It's fine, bud." He turned around and began walking again. Jorgan looked up to watch him, frowning. The black stallion trotted after Mephisto, letting out a small snort and quiet "hey". Mephisto turned to look questioningly at Jorgan.

The horse stopped a few feet in front of Mephisto, "Um, can I go with you?"

"Uh, yea?" Mephisto said, confused. "Of course, you're my best friend."

"No," Jorgan huffed, embarrassed, "as your valentine. Mephisto's eyes widened, confused. Jorgan frowned, "I've liked you ever since we were foals, Mephistopheles." He confessed, "Ever since the water incident."

Mephisto stared for a short moment, unsure of what to say. Eventually, he smiled and nodded. "Sure. Tonight then?"

Jorgan seemed a bit shocked, but soon smiled brightly. "Tonight."

"Tonight."
