Why the Necklace?
Believe it or not, Destiny is actually afraid of the dark. She's fully aware that her fear is absurd, especially considering her species, but she can't help it. The darkness makes her anxious, even with her cat's night vision. It's less her inability to see than the fear of what lurks in the darkness, what she hears rustling all around her in the trees and the bushes. She feels that the glow of her markings will attract curious predators instead of deter them.
One late evening, she was hurrying back to her den as the sky darkened above her. She noticed a faint sparkle as she leaped over a log, and was immediately interested. She tried hard not to be, to encourage herself to race back to her den before the darkness could completely envelope her, but she just couldn't resist the pull of her curiosity. She wheeled around and scampered back to the object.
It was a necklace, left hanging on a broken branch of the log. She sniffed it curiously, detecting the faint scent of humans. Some child had probably been playing in the woods and left it behind. The pendant was a white crescent moon, which interested her. Despite her aversion to the nighttime, she thought the necklace was beautiful. She slipped it on over her ears, marveling at how it shined against her chest. Grinning at her good luck, she scampered back towards her den to show off her new treasure, slightly less afraid of the darkness around her.
After finding the necklace, she began to feel a little differently about the night. She started to find beauty in it. In the dew drops sparkling on the spider webs. In the moonlight that casted shadows down from the tree leaves. In the glow of the moon. Though she was still afraid of the creatures that dwelled in the darkness, her necklace gave her confidence that not all things in the night were bad.
Personality
Destiny is a very curious individual, who puts a lot of value in the objects she collects. All of the shiny trinkets and objects that she finds have a special meaning to her, and she thoroughly enjoys showing her objects to others, but is very unlikely to ever trade them. She is very friendly, even bordering on naive. She enjoys life to the fullest and wishes only for everyone to be happy. Many have taken advantage of this from her to steal some of her treasure, but she remains as gullible as she was. Her idea is that for every bad Half-Light Hunter, there is also a good one, and one should never assume a cat is one or the other.
She treats everyone with the same respect and appreciation. She loves to play with kits, or simply to enjoy another's company. She admits that she may annoy others with her need for attention, but she feels that even if she does, she'll be there for them if they ever need her. Even those who have been rude to her are forgiven with ease. She hates holding a grudge and dislikes it even more when others hold grudges against her. She'll strive endlessly the make it up to them, often making the situation even worse. She has a hard time grasping that not all mistakes can be fixed.
Water is one of her favorite things to play in, despite the other Half-Light Hunter's aversion to it. She loves to jump into streams and send droplets scattering everywhere, and to try to jump from stone to stone. She's not very good at it, but she still enjoys the challenge, no matter how many times she falls. Even better, in her opinion, are the gorgeous pebbles and rocks she finds in the streams, which are all her's! Since few other cats enjoy the waters, she gets to pick out all the rocks for herself. Truth be told, she enjoys the jealous looks others give her as she picks out the gorgeous, shining rocks out of the stream.
