Mica was seven when his parents gave his older brother a pokemon egg. They told him to carry it around and talk to it, to keep the little creature inside comfortable, but his brother had never held much interest in pokemon and he foisted the egg on Mica instead. "Walk it for me," he said, gesturing to the door. "And don't tell mom and dad."
Of course, carrying it everywhere ensured that Mica loved the thing, and by the time it was ready to hatch he was far more excited than his brother was. The moment the Ponyta struggled free from its egg shell it tottered to Mica and he held it close to his chest, begging his parents to let him keep her. Mica's brother had no real opinion on keeping the pokemon for himself so Mica was allowed to have her. He named her Blaine and she became his constant companion. Fifteen years later she's evolved into a Rapidash and gained many levels but still she remains first in his party. If he doesn't have to he keeps her out of her pokeball and she walks beside him instead. He loves the warmth of her coat and mane.

Mica would have walked right by Caspian if Blaine hadn't stopped and gone to investigate the noises herself. The little Manytke was nearly unconscious and weak with hunger so Mica brought him home and fed him berries and nursed him back to health. He was nine when he first found and named Caspian and it wasn't until he was eleven that he accidentally evolved him. He was holding a friend's Remoraid for her while she went and took a test at summer school and wandering outside with it and Caspian when he stumbled on a wild Zubat. A battle began, with Caspian taking offense, and upon victory he leveled up. Nothing extraordinary except...
Except he started to evolve. Mica, who had no idea about the process from Mantyke to Mantine, panicked, but when the process finished it was still Caspian, just much bigger now and stronger too. Mica gave back the Remoraid but Caspian stayed as he was. Caspian likes leaping into the air and coasting for great distances, but when tired will flop down onto the ground beside Mica. He's far too heavy now to lay on his back, as he used to when he was a Mantyke.

Mica was sitting out on a friend's back porch when he saw the grass move. Curious, he stepped down off the patio to get a closer look and was promptly attached by an Electrike who barked furiously at him until Blaine could get between them. Mica caught her because he appreciated the pup's attitude and as he got to know her he started calling her Lilypad; it became something of an inside joke for him and his team, as despite her sweet appearance she was always irritated and constantly spoiling for a fight. He calls her Lily for short.
She leveled up and evolved into a Manetric very quickly because she was always leaping into the fray and volunteering herself for any proffered battle. She gathers electricity in her mane and then uses small bursts of it to entice Mica to do what she wants, including feeding her early or letting her sleep through the afternoon. Despite that she is very fond of Mica and always lays down beside him whenever he dozes. During these times she never shocks him but rather allows him to nuzzle into her shoulders with obvious affection.

Sitka came into Mica's life when he was fourteen and won a race on Blaine's fortitude alone. He was elated by the triumph and was surprised when he was offered an egg for his victory but accepted it nonetheless. That little egg took a great deal of time to hatch and out crawled an Amaura, a Pokémon Mica had seen only a few times before but always loved. He named them Sitka, after a town in Alaska his parents had always gushed about. The pale colors reminded him greatly of the long stretch of winter.
Sitka proved to be incredibly lazy, and despite having been with Mica for eight years has yet to evolve. He doesn't much want to evolve, honestly; he likes being small, and at this size he can still wheedle Mica into carrying into in a sling across his shoulders rather than being made to walk. Sitka is smart enough to realize that, should he evolve into a much larger Aurorus, he will be made to walk everywhere. He doesn't much care for battle and never tries that hard if he's called on to fight. He prefers making peace over a pointless squabble.

Spinaraks are well-known for the expressive faces on their rumps, and Quincy is no exception to this. More often than not that little "face" is grinning or smirking, usually more of a devious look than a joyful one. He appears constantly like he's just done something bad and is expecting to get away with it. Mica didn't really intend to catch Quincy, as he was trying to keep his team small and was already overwhelmed with four, but he found him in a forest and couldn't shake him. Literally. Quincy kept jumping onto Mica's legs and staying so still Mica wouldn't see him for minutes at a time and only then would try to tempt the little Pokémon off.
Eventually he threw a Pokeball at him just to keep him safe, and Quincy has been with him ever since. He frequently nestles himself into Mica's hair and rides there in that little front poof and always sits so still that mostly no one ever notices him there. Mica got Quincy when he was seventeen and Quincy really ended up helping him through the senior year of high school as the Spinarak insisted on coming to class with him every day.

Mica got the final member of his team just last year, when he was twenty one and on the cusp of graduating from university. His parents gave him Cleopatra when she was still nameless and fresh from hatching; she'd been found in the woods near their house, they told him, all alone. Mica took her without preamble, as he never could say no to a sad story.
He named her Cleopatra after she became overly attached to him and the team and took to attacking anyone who even looked sideways at them. She acts just like a queen, despite her meager size, and she's very protective over all six of them. She sits on her shoulder wherever he goes and flat-out refuses the Pokeball, although he has probably tried only half a dozen times altogether. Sometimes she will ride on Blaine for a higher vantage point, or sometimes she will fly, but mostly she's on Mica so she can keep a good eye on everything. She's an incredible judge of character and is always warning him via loud chirping when she suspects someone. She bites quite a lot, but never Mica, even when she's mad at him for not listening.
