Monster -- Imagine DragonsPersonality Sky grew up believing she was a monster, because no one ever treated her right. She was treated as an outsider, a freak, and a mystery. No one wanted to get close to this monster, the monster who ate her up from the inside. She was told she was rotten to the core, with a dark soul. Sky tried many things during her childhood to fit in, changing her looks, her style, and her story, but this led to lies, and as she hated pretending (and still does) it never settled in for her. As a child she was shy, and never wanted to get to close to anyone, always scared the monster inside would steal it away again. She was bitter with her family, and grew up starting to silently hate the world. But deep inside she was just lonely...
As Skylla grew older into her teens, she became bolder, and started fights. She always blamed the monster inside, but deep down she knew that what she was doing was wrong. At the age of thirteen she ran away, and this event brought a change in Sky. She began to let out her inner kindness, no longer held back by the prejudices of her past. In the forest she said her name was Soul, there to help others. That kindness deep inside her began to grow, and by the age of fifteen (Skylla's current age) she was free. Sky is now different to who she was then. She is kinder, softly spoken and shy, but full of hope! She is no longer the monster that she was told she was, and the darkness inside still lingers, but Sky fights it. Skylla is no longer the little girl who had no friends and was told she was a monster, but a brave young Viscet who may be shy, but knows how to beat the darkness.
Short Story;;Sky stood on the edge of the cliff, gazing out on the vast blue ocean. The ocean had many stories to tell but they were never told. Skylla breathed in the soft taste of the salt in the air, the tantalising taste of freedom. Freedom she had only experienced now she was far away from the town and it's prejudices.
But they weren't prejudices. Your a monster, a monster of the sea, returning to your roots! sang the voice in her head. The voice she had called Shadow, the monster inside her heart that made her feel like she was right, and everything else was wrong.
Shut up. I am not a monster. I am... me.Sighing Skylla climbed dow the little rocky path to the sea.
The waves never have to worry, they know what they're doing. Not like me, She thought as she sat on the edge of the sea, feeling the tide swirl around her feet.
We could be like that. You know your a monster. And monster who has come home!
I am not a monster!Shadow never gave up on annoying others, he was always there is her head. Skylla stood on her own four feet and ran. Along the side of the crashing waves, in tune to the cries of the gulls above. She was a Viscet through and through. Shadow didn't like it when she ran, so running was one of her favourite type of thing to do. Sand sprayed out behind her paws, her tongue lolling out with the sheer bliss of the peace in her head. She ran towards the cliff again, dove into the crystal waters of the sea and swam.
Under the blue waves she opened her eyes tentatively to observe the colourful world under the surface. Fish swam past her face, the sand looked brighter.
I know where I am! I am home. This is where I belong!
Monster. Sea monster.
Zip it you monster. I am no monster, but this is my home, I belong by the sea.
Monster, monster, monster!Skylla swam to the surface, breathing in the clear air. She had found out where she belonged, and now she wanted to explore. Sky spent the rest of the day running on the sands, and walking through the caves, until she found one suitable to set up camp. When the sun set she trotted to the mouth to look at the colours. The sky was pink, orange and tinted with gold, the sun itself ruby red. Glowing with flames and creating the most beautiful picture. It was like a picture from a story book and it made Sky's heart sing with joy. She began to hum under her breath.
As darkness fell a profound sense of peace settled in Sky's heart and she knew it was because of where she was. The sea was her home and this is where she belonged. Tomorrow would bring a new day, and a new life.
Goodnight monster.
