Lilian --- The Lily.Gender: male-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven"Lilian does not have emotions for lot of things, except for roses, beautiful stories and - sometimes - poetry.
One of the pieces he indeed feels deeply connected with is "The Raven" written by Edgar Allan Poe.
It was one of the first poems he encountered as a Viscling, poetry actually being very rare in the place where he grew up.
But Lilian himself often visited an old Viscet who then would tell the little one whatever came to his mind.
The two of them used the visits to spend time they didn't need anyways. And to forget about the circumstances outside.
And one time the old Viscet showed him the poem. Lilian has heard/read poems before, but most of them were chants
written by the government and forced into especially the children's heads, to glorify the actions of the authorities.
But he has never before heard one that was written in the old times. When the skies were still blue and the birds still sang.
Even though the poem is rather dark, Lilian doesn't care about that. For him the poem is a piece of treasure
The poem reminds him, that there has been a time where people were still free to write what they pleased.
And although Lilian seems tough on the outside - on the inside he is still dreaming of a past he never lived
And is hoping for it to return someday, maybe. That poem is even one of the reasons why he joined the resistance.
Of course, Lilian also enjoys the poem overall very much. This eerie feeling you get when trying to imagine the scenery
and even though the poem is from a better time, it represents very much what is going on inside of him.
Darkness, fear, memories of others he lost and a demon that won't stop reminding him of this.
In some way the poem makes Lilian feel understood. When reading the poem he doesn't feel that alone anymore
Lilian does not read much, he doesn't have the time and most books are forbidden in the lands he lives
But when he takes a few minutes to read the poem, he can be himself for a while

Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? The bright colors of your fur can't make up for it.
Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? Your eyes might be gold, but they make me shiver.
Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? Why are you silent, why won't you admit?
That you're broken inside, after the stars left the sky
And your deep blue ocean turned into a blood red river.
Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? Name of a flower but soul of a beast.
Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? The night sky seems bright when looking at you.
Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? Is it because the trees have become creased
And the mountains fell down as did the gods upon high
And your homeland got silent because the birds all flew
Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? Not even the roses can make you smile.
Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? Please tell my why you can't love anymore.
Why is your heart so dark, Lilian? I guess everyone stopped wondering after a while
Why your soul is gone and your heart is from stone
And why they won't hear your laughter evermore.
