Shadows danced in the dying light of the moon while wolf song cut through the stars that blazed above. Trapped below, I stood and gazed at the flaming balls of light in envy, my soul calling out to them while the Earth held me to it with a grip stronger than steel. The mountains were cold again, snow already piling up in smooth layers on the rocky surface. It wouldn't be long before it would be too thick to walk through and hibernation would be forced upon me. The cycle was constant, unbreaking, unchanging, and boring. Hunt, eat, watch the sky, hibernate, wake up, repeat. Around and around the disk turns, back and forth the pendulum swings. While my body was trapped in a state of burning repetition, my soul was stretched out across the vast, endless sky. The feeling was dreadful, like having your arm pulled by a boulder. The longing to leave haunted my every step but the need to stay nailed my feet to the ground in a endless tug of war that never rested even when I did. I suppose that is what I deserve, however. I was the one that had chosen this prison, so I am the one that must deal with it. A life amongst the stars traded for one sealed on a mountain top. Not my best decision.
I looked up at the dark sky that shimmered with flickering stars in envy. Above, an undiscovered constellation gleamed mockingly as Moredious smirked down at me. The son of a constellation, trapped on earth and given a name after how many stars died the day I was banished.
