Images/Story:
A young, brown and white filly trotted next to her mother, her hooves thumping on the ground. Her stomach growled, and she bent down to eat some leaves when suddenly, she saw an iridescent bird. the filly, curious, inched closer to the bird, trying to get a better look. The bird took to the air, flying in the opposite direction of the herd. "Wait!" her mother called after her as the filly crashed after it. She followed the bird as it led her to a clearing, then soared into the sky, out of view. The filly looked around, then started towards where she thought she came from. no, not this way, she thought. She moved away, then she glanced around. She wasn't even sure where she was. Panic struck her like a stone. Then, she noticed something in the corner of her eye. It was golden and blue, and she could hear something crashing. Or at least that's what she thought. She crept through the Island plants and into the open. Golden, sparkling sand stretched out side was as far as she could see, and the vast blue ocean shimmered like a thousand diamonds. She crept down to where the water started, the waves lapping at her hooves. Wow, she thought. She and pranced around, kicking up water and seaweed. She could taste the salty air as the wind went by, the splash of water, and the grit of the sand. It was nothing like she had ever experienced before. After a while, she climbed out to rest on the shore. Settling down on a patch of beachgrass, she closed her eyes and drifted into a deep slumber. Every day, as the years passed, she had given up hope of ever seeing a horse again. However, she always came back to the beach to run with the wind and play in the waves. On one cool morning, as she got up , her thoughts wandering, when she suddenly heard the sound of hooves. My herd! she thought with glee. she trotted towards the sounds, excitement bubbling up inside her. When she caught view, she realized that they were not, in fact, her old herd. These horses were different. Cautiously, she walked up to one of the grazing horses. "Hello," she said to the horse. She eyed them warily, but the stranger seemed friendly enough. "Hi," the other mare said as munched, "Who are you? And where's your herd?" This made her hesitate. What was her name? And is her herd even still together? She thought back to the beach, with the waves, wind, sand, and sky. Her beach. Her Paradise. She thought of how her hooves carried her through the waves, and how all the sounds were carried on the breeze like a song. " I am Song of the Islands, or Paradise for short. I am of no herd," she said. The mare looked at Paradise questioningly, but didn't say anything. "I am Lilac from the Herd of Epona's Meadow. Run with me?" Lilac neighed. The two mares galloped to catch up with the moving Epona Herd. From then on, Paradise of No Herd was gone, but Song of the Islands was reborn to the wild. This is how she got to here, the Wild Epona Meadows, and how she came to be.
