Personalities:
Vixen is, in short, bitter. She's rather rude to almost everyone she meets; it's just how she is. She's very reclusive, and oftentimes tends to stick to herself. Some may see her as antisocial; others view her as a little off the deep end. Sure, she talks to herself sometimes, but that's mainly because she has no one else to chat with. Everyone sees her as an intimidating mare, but is that really the case? Once you've gotten to know Vixen, you'll find that inside her locked heart, it's actually quite warm. She's very loving and protective, but afraid she'll lose those close to her. In order to prevent this from happening, she either locks herself away and responds negatively, or with a cold shoulder; or she becomes highly overprotective of her loved ones, oftentimes risking her own life countless times in order to protect those she loves.
Juliette is the total opposite of her beloved Vixen. Instead of being grouchy, Juliette is an absolute sweetheart, always eager to please. She's curious; very much so. In fact, if there's anything that may spark even the slightest bit of interest - say, for instance, a coin or a strange noise - Juliette will go dashing off to investigate. This little mare has a childlike innocence wafting about her almost all the time. Along with this, however, comes a great deal of sensitivity. Juliette hates seeing anyone get hurt; be it physically or emotionally, she can't stand it. She'll get upset over anything for anybody. She just doesn't believe that anyone deserves to be in pain. So naturally, whenever she sees nature taking its toll on an innocent creature (such as a rat, a squirrel, a bird, etc.), she can't help but sob over this loss of a beautiful life.
Relationship Description:
Vixen and Juliette's relationship is a curious one, indeed, but as they say, opposites do attract, and that is exactly the case with these two, it seems. While one may think a mare like Juliette would annoy the living hell out of Vixen, the taller mare has actually taken quite the liking to the smaller. This is mainly because while most others would ignore Vixen, or stray far away from her path, bubbly little Juliette met the taller while she was grazing by her lonesome one day, and immediately bounded on over to her, words flying from her mouth a mile a minute. Vixen made the mistake of showing the slightest bit of kindness to Juliette (upon noticing her red string), and from that day forward, the two grew closer and closer until they became mates.
Juliette can be a bit overly curious or sensitive, much to Vixen's dismay. In fact, every time the smaller bursts into tears or darts off to see something shiny, Vixen just about has a heart attack worrying over her. Vixen is highly protective of Juliette, and while the gentler mare doesn't approve of her mate's harsh attitude sometimes, she does appreciate that Vixen cares about her enough to stand up for her.
First Encounter:
Juliette jumped back with a start. It moved! Why was it moving? It shouldn't have been moving! ...Well, not on its own, anyways.
She stared at the little grayish-brown rock curiously, hesitantly lowering her head and nosing at it gently, once again leaping away from it when it hopped. She snorted loudly, staring bug-eyed at the thing before her curiosity got the best of her yet again, and she once again prodded at it with her nose, repeating this little game a couple more times. What was this thing? While Juliette was indeed curious, she wasn't so sure if this little rock creature was dangerous or not... Not that the thought crossed her mind at the time. She was more focused on finding out if it was actually alive or not.
The small mare sniffed the thing one final time and reared back as it turned quickly to face her, its throat puffing out as it expelled a loud, squeaky whine. Juliette stamped her hoof a little ways away from the tiny rock creature, as if to scare it off. Thankfully, that worked. The thing made a strange noise as it turned and hopped away.
Juliette nickered happily for a moment before a flicker of movement in the corner of her eye caught her attention. She flicked her head to the left, looking to see a tall mare - at the very least two hands taller than Juliette herself - grazing quietly, her tail swishing back and forth to try and scare the flies off. Admittedly, this mare's appearance screamed "danger" - her light gray eyes were narrowed towards the ground, and Juliette could've sworn she heard the taller mumbling to herself. Nevertheless, the smaller decided that, since God forbid anyone stay by themselves for more than a few minutes, she'd go over and say hi.
And so she did, trotting excitedly over to the darkly-colored mare. She snorted to gain the taller mare's attention, and to her delight, it worked. The dark female raised her head curiously, light gray eyes narrowed into slits towards the gleeful little mare, a brow quirked in confusion. Disregarding the taller's scowl (or not even acknowledging it at all), Juliette chirped happily (and rather quickly), "Hello! How are you? What's your name? I haven't seen you around here before. Are you new here? Wow! You're tall! How tall are you?"
And so she went, blathering on, words rushing out her mouth a mile a minute as she hopped around excitedly. Could this be a new friend? Juliette liked making new friends.

...Alright, just who the hell was this little moron, anyways?
Here Vixen stood, trying to get some peace and quiet - some alone time, time to talk to herself and think over the events that had occurred that day, and now some tiny idiot just darted over and began rambling on, asking questions and jumping around like a hyperactive rabbit? Just what was going on, here?
Vixen grew dizzy trying to watch this little mare hop around, and instead of paying attention to her, quietly went back to grazing. Maybe if she just ignored her, the smaller would just go away...
Of course, that wasn't the case, it seemed. In fact, the smaller just seemed to grow more impatient, asking more and more questions until finally, she had to pause to catch her breath. She inhaled and exhaled rather quickly, taking short, deep breaths as she tried to pull more oxygen to her brain.
Vixen looked up in alarm at the smaller mare's panting. Oh heavens, she wasn't going to faint, was she? That would just be horrible - not because Vixen cared about her, but because that meant she'd have to find another place to graze, and believe it or not, Vixen had grown rather fond of this little patch...
That was around the time Vixen noticed the strand of red string tied neatly around the hyper mare's neck.
To most, it would seem like this was the cause of her shortness of breath. But Vixen knew better than that. She recognized that string from anywhere; it was the string only she could see. The Red String of Fate.
Vixen's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets as she stared in complete and utter shock at the string. Did this mean that this little moron was... No, it couldn't be! But then again, not every Tolt had a string tied to them...
Vixen sighed heavily upon realizing what this meant. Whether she liked it or not, she was now stuck with the hyperventilating idiot. Hopefully, the smaller wouldn't be too annoying...
---
The moment Juliette caught her breath, the taller mare began to speak softly.
"...You alright there, miss?" she muttered, all the while trying to shake a surprised look off her face.
Juliette grinned widely, beginning to bounce around again. "Yeah! Never been better! So you never answered my questions, miss! What's your-"
"Enough!" the taller mare growled sharply, earning a quiet "meep!" from Juliette. Upon realizing she had scared the smaller, the darkly-colored mare sighed and mumbled, "Look, I'm sorry... It's just... I didn't expect you to-"
"That's okay!" Juliette chirped giddily, seemingly over her temporary fright. "I didn't expect to talk to you until I saw you a few minutes ago!" As an afterthought (and upon realizing she was probably annoying the taller mare), she threw in, "By the way, I'm Juliette. What's your name? I promise I'll leave you alone if you answer that."
The taller blinked slowly and turned away, looking past the fence. "...I'm Vixen," she said quietly. "And... You don't have to leave if you don't want to, y'know? I wouldn't mind if you stayed."
---
Whether they liked it or not, these two mares were now stuck together. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad... Maybe, just maybe, eventually, they'd learn to actually appreciate each others' company. Just maybe.
