Have you ever heard the story of La Llorona? Well it's a tragic tale about a mother and her lost children and there are many versions of it. Yoltzin cries for all the versions in real life because she thinks about all the crying women who have lost their children young and old, she cries for the fathers that have lost their wives and children, she cries for the children who are lost and their families.

Yoltzin cries for the elderly beginning to end, for the newborns just beginning. She cries for those misled with good intentions, those who lead them, and their hardships. They cry for the broken, the beaten, and the damned. She cries for the loved once and loveless. Those who don't know love yet. And those that feel they never will.

Yoltzin cries from the confusion she lives in and the fears that won't leave. And they cry because the world is so mixed up and confusing but so beautiful to be in. And they cry because in this world there are millions that will never shed a tear trying to be brave. So Yoltzin cries for them because then who else will?

"Why are you crying?" A small red deer fawn approached Acantha with caution, curiosity sparkling in her eyes.

Acantha jumped at the noise with a sniffle then promptly wiped her tears away with one of her delicate green hooves. "I'm not!" She snapped at the little deer to cloak her sadness.

"Yes, you are." The fawn trodded closer and sniffed at Acantha's pelt. "You smell of fear and loneliness..."

Acantha's eyes went wide and she was silent for a moment before bursting into tears once more. "I-I can't see! I've g-gone blind and I don't k-know where my clan is!!" She blubbered between wails. "They've l-left me!"

"I don't know where my herd is, either...I'll stay with you." The fawn lay down next to Acantha and snuggled her hooves. "My name is Kahli."

(Kahli (kah-lee) is a normal red deer fawn that becomes Acantha's "eyes" and they survive together.)

"I'm home, sweetie!" Called Nora as she entered her home,
a den. She looked around for her daughter. But, her girl, Clove,
was nowhere to be seen. "C-Clove?" Walking back outside, she
almost tripped on a small object: her child's feather necklace. Nora
nearly choked; where was she? What happened to her? As the tears ran down her cheeks, she knew they would never stop. "Clove.. why did you leave me? I love you.." She whispered, picking up the necklace and sobbing as she sat down to gaze at the stars; would Clove be among them tonight?

The sound of crying woke the small fawn, causing her to follow it to a young doe.
"A-Are you alright? What's a matter?" the young fawn asked worriedly.
"Oh little one," Ivana sniffed, turning to the fawn. "A long time ago, before deer even existed, the sun and the moon were lovers. They would share each night and day together, both of them shining down on the earth at the same time. One day, they had a big fight. From then on, at the crack of dawn, the sun would argue with the moon, although she would win so she'd push him out of the way, leaving him to sulk behind her. That's why only the sun shines in the day. At dusk, the same thing would happen, although this time the moon would win. That's why only the moon shines at night." she explained, tears welling up in her eyes again. "After centuries, the sun and the moon still refused to make up with each other. Grudges are a terrible thing. Sorry about waking you." Ivana managed to choke out before breaking into tears again.
The fawn hurried away, deep in thought about what Ivana had said.
