Cross country ride

Charlotte and I had been working together for about a month now so I decided to try something new. She always like our longer rides so I took her out on a cross country trail ride. I loaded her up in the trailer since the trail was a good half hour out. Once we reached it I unloaded her easily. "C'mon cutie. I think you're gonna like this." I mounted and spurred her to a quick trot, then a canter. We started down the track, Charlotte pulling at the reins eagerly. I gave her a bit more rein and she lengthened her stride. I crouched low over her back, guiding her through the trail. We approached the first jump quickly and she cleared it with ease. Grinning, I gave her just a little bit more rein and she took it eagerly. We flew through the course and made it across the finish in good time. I took her for a slow cool down ride before loading her up to take her home. Once we got back I took my time washing her down, checking for any injuries and grooming her thoroughly. For the rest of the day, her eyes were just a bit brighter and her step a little lighter.
