Name: Giselle sometimes referred to as "Birdy"
Gender: female
Role and why:
The air was thick with fear and tension, the smell of it causing me to almost choke. Of course, this was not my pack's fear I was smelling, it was our prey's. My stomach lurched when I caught sight of a limp rabbit hanging from a pack-mate's jaws. Sure, the animal had lost track of time, but death seemed a bit extreme. I pushed the thought away, why should I mourn for my prey? My pack-mates would think I'd gone crazy or even worse.. cowardly.
"Birdy! Birdy! Come play with us!" a loud yip snapped me back into reality.
"Of course!" I chuckled, scanning the eager faces of the pups. "Which game do you guys want to play?"
After getting mixed responses, I suggested, "Why not we take a vote? That way, we could play them in the order of whichever gets the most to the least votes?"
After deciding the order, I played with the pups until the hunters and gatherers began to return. I could tell the pack was relieved to see how plentiful this morning's hunt had been. Being spring, all of the animals and plants were beginning to return from the cold, harsh winter we had. My pack had been close to starvation through the winter, using every last puny piece of food we found to feed our young. This was one of the reasons I hated being a gatherer. The sadness and disappointment on the faces of your pack-mates when you didn't bring back anything made you want to hang your head in shame. Watching your friends and family starve because of something that was partly your fault made you want to cry out in despair. Although, on the way I've gotten dirty looks and I've heard other Xholis whispering nasty things about me, I still wouldn't return to gatherer for the world. I am content being a pupsitter. Although it may have its downs, the look of wonder that forms on every pups' face when you tell them a tale of long ago can remind you that you've done the right thing. I may have been shunned by some due to pursuing a different role so late in my life, I don't regret it. Not one bit.

Name:
Kalasin
Name Meaning:
Guardian of the young ones
Gender:
Male
Role and why:
Pupsitter.
Despite Kalasin's good nature, he never was a very social Xholi, in fact seems to be cold and tempered, but that's not right. Yes, indeed, he is calm and laid back, a mellow fellow of the Xholi species, but there are few times he actually is on the rude side of things. The truth is, this male discovered soon that he has a very soft spot for pups and a high sense of protection. Kalasin realized he's enjoying the company of pups or a good game with them very greatly. He's more, open, around them as if he wouldn't need any invisible shields to defend him, doesn't need to keep proving himself. They accept him how he is, as simple as that. And so, also he accepts every pup no matter which flaws they may have. It's the innocence they bear that makes him relax. This Xholi isn't too talkative about himself, but loves to tell the little ones stories.

mmm girl shake dat booty gem

Name: Ukiyo (nickname Uki), a japanese word literally translated to "the floating world", but means living in the moment, detached from the bothers of life.
Gender: Androgyne, one who identifies with both masculinity and femininity, but with no set "male" or "female" and allows any pronouns.
Role and why: Ukiyo is a pup sitter. This might sound strange for someone who is constantly day dreaming, constantly goofing off, never really focusing. But because of these character traits specifically, Ukiyo was always seen as the goofball of the pack, someone who never focused and was just a liability waiting to happen. Not as drastic as being cast out of the pack, Uki was instead outcasted from social get-togethers, lacked companions, and found herself very alone. When becoming a pup sitter, however, she found that there was no judgement between the pups and her. They relished her less serious personality, loved but were wary of her sensitivity, and she found no need for validation within them because they already knew she was perfect the way she was. Feeling like she had finally found her sense of community and was beginning to accept her true persona, Ukiyo chose pup sitting and has never regretted it since.

Name: Dream
Gender: Male
Role and why: Dream is a pup-sitter. He chose that rank because he loves pups and wishes to have his own someday. He's a bit smaller and not really a fighter, so he's better fitted for that rank, but he's happy.
Personality: Dream is very sarcastic and pessimistic, but playful and loyal at the same time.

It wasn't a spur of the moment decision; Irene truly wanted to be a gatherer, though not entirely sure of it at first.
As a pup, she was incredibly fascinated by everyone - especially the workers. It seemed so odd in her perspective, since most pups would constantly speak of stories involving the leader. She liked the way they had worked without mentioning a word, how it didn't bother them that nobody truly appreciated what they did.
Irene took her time choosing carefully what she wanted to do. She couldn't see herself as a part of the defense line: she found herself fleeing more than protecting anything. While a hunter could be sufficient for her, she didn't think of it as an enjoyable job. She disliked the idea of taking care of pups, so a pupsitter was ruled out completely. As for a scout, she could imagine herself being a part of that - but soon found what she truly wanted.
      A gatherer was her choice.
Though it took her a long time to think it through, Irene is proud of her decision. She couldn't bear to ask a savant to change her apprenticeship, especially with her confidence level and how she didn't like the other roles. Irene felt if the savant declined, she'd be shunned out completely. Though it's false, she still felt it would happen. She doesn't regret making her decision whatsoever.
Except the few, minor things. As a pup, younger Irene never truly thought of how hard it'd be. She figured it as a quick "grab and go"; easy to find the necessary things. As a gatherer, she takes it upon herself to help out every single xholi possible. While this contradicts herself, she finds it point-blank. It's odd, because she dislikes the busy aspect of the role, yet she does purposely make it harder for herself. Why? She feels as if nobody would think she's trying otherwise. Her job may be easier than she makes it for herself.

      Image

As mentioned before, young Irene found the worker roles incredibly heroic. She chose the gatherer for multiple reasons, aside from just having the role fit her. As a xholi, she's dislikes confined spaces and chooses to go outside and run around rather than hide in a den. When she was just a pup, it was troublesome for her mother to keep her inside when it was time to sleep: she'd be constantly trying to run about.
Irene wouldn't see the dangers in life, and she still doesn't quite fully understand them. For example, the threat of a fox is clear, but perhaps not poisonous berries. This is why she's dedicated herself to learning necessary information to be a gatherer. Now, she's quite knowledgeable on what to get for the healer, and other vegetation for the pack when no meat is available.
While she's not much of a hunter, Irene does occasionally bring back meat. Though she hates to do it, she often relies on other gatherers or hunters to bring back meat, and she usually tries to help fetch things for the healer and teach others about what vegetation is safe to eat.
She takes her responsibilities very seriously, and often will scold herself for not doing them up to her own standards. This, at times, shows good work skills, but also shows the fact that she doesn't have much for herself besides her role.
Her personality is evident through her work: hardworking, lonely, free, and loyal. She puts so much effort into her work because she's ultimately lonely, and knows that there's nothing else for her besides her pack and responsibility. Irene understands this, which is why she strives to be the best possible version of herself. If there's nothing you can do about your situation, why not make the best of it?

      Image

Her social life was impacted most by her decision. Irene has her regrets, and this is the most common source for hers. In her mind, a clan is made up of pieces, and so is a pack. These pieces are roles: and she believes each xholi belongs in its own 'piece' of the pack. While this is rather untrue, it's her mindset.
As an apprentice, Irene tried to stay away from other xholis that weren't training to be a gatherer or hunter. She believed that it would curb her focus, which made her have not so many friends as the average xholi. This was partially due to the influence of her parents, which told her to do good in life and focus. Young Irene wanted to fulfill their advice, so she continued being this way.
While she's not a particularly aloof xholi, Irene tends to be rather unnoticeable. Irene is rather plain, to put it short: she doesn't have anything else for her asides from gathering. Nobody truly knows her as a definitive label, but rather just a hardworking xholi. She doesn't stick out in any particular way, so she tends to just stick to the background.
It's unknown if she truly likes being this way, though. It can't be helped to have a prick of jealousy every now and then: especially for Irene, who holds emotions back considerably. She has a bad habit of keeping quiet when something annoys her, and truly never knows what she actually wants.
When she became a gatherer, however, that was something she had truly wanted.

Name:
Asia
[as-e-uh]

Gender:
Female

Role and why:
Asia is a Gatherer.

Asia’s heart is exploring and finding new things, which tends to be a gatherer ‘trait’ in her view. She also is extremely annoyed by some pups, and some Xholi’s as well. So explaining why she wants to get out of the camp and roam, she loves to collect other things, like feathers, flowers, sticks, berries. A lot of her gathering’s are mostly self-wanted, but she does help out with needed supplies for battles, food, and benefits for her Pack.

Asia also tends to want self-benefits, only when she's afraid of loosing she will get beneficial supplies, and needed supplies .

        Name:
        Daleen

        Name meaning:
Daleen is an English name that means "motherly."

        Gender:
        Female

        Role and why?:
Many find this surprising due to Daleen's usually short-tempered and proud personality, but she chose to become a pupsitter from the very beginning, and for a simple reason. Ever since she was a pup herself, she bore a motherly nature. She would make sure her siblings were safe wherever they went, and would guard the pups who were younger than her. As she grew older, she also grew more driven to protect future generations and to always make sure that they all received proper love and care. Her stone-like exterior completely dissolves around the pups, making her more pleasant to be around. There's no doubt that Daleen would be willing to kill anything that poses a threat to the pups of her pack.

The pups are typically very fond of her in return. She teaches them various games and tells them stories, occasionally even sneaking in some treats for them if they've all behaved. Though when punishment is needed, she's quick to respond but sensible in the type of punishment given. Even though none of the pups are hers, she affectionately calls them partially her own. Daleen hopes to find a mate that'll be able to put up with her in the future, and to bare a litter of her own. For now, she's perfectly happy with caring for other the rest of the pack's pups.
