"You can't run from everything"
Kao, in her introverted ways, has very undeveloped social skills, and as a result is prone to evading contact with the outside world for nearly weeks at at time. In her younger days, she was often was ignored by her peers, but happily so. Never was there a true desire to "make friends," despite overbearing encouragement from her parents, teachers, and countless psychiatrists she has visited through the years.
"Something wrong?"
There had to be something wrong with a girl like her! No one should be so silent, surely she had to have a mental disorder of some sort, depressed? Yes, this must have been it. So she was whisked to councilor upon councilor as they attempted to figure her out, eventually coming to the decision to simply stick her on happy pills at the tender age of 12.
However, this had little effect on her demeanor, as if anything she only became more silent. By 14 she had locked up her lips and thrown away the key.
"Finding my escape"
I was about 20 by the time I discovered pottery. I had signed up for a cover-all basic art class in freshman year of college, and one of the units was making clay pottery. I was instantly sent back to the age of 5, watching my mother in her art studio. She never created the pots themselves, but she almost always was in the process of painting one. Remembering mom when she still treated me like a normal child instead of insisting that I socialize brought a sense of inner peace, and on from then I learned that sometimes living in the past isn't such a bad thing."Life today"
Still preferring solitude over company, Kaolin has integrated herself into society, half by force from her few friends who admire her work and continue to encourage her to show her work off.
She lives with a pet chinchilla, a rescue from a breeding farm, and lots and lots of plants.
{All art by myself}
