For as long as I can remember, I've been afraid of the ocean. I always feel as though it might swallow me up with the next wave against the shore. It's not like I can avoid it either, I live on a cliff right next to it and I can't convince my parents to move. It Definitely doesn't help that to get away from the ocean I have to go dangerously close first. My fear is so bad that I have nightmares about drowning.

You're probably wondering what my fear of the ocean has to do with how I got my scarf. Well if you'll just be patient for A moment I'll tell you.

Ok, so anyway it was a normal day well it may have been a bit clouded and windy but that didn't particularly bother me. I bid my Farewell to my parents.
"Be careful Eris, remember to be back before dusk" my mother called after me.
"Yes mother" I replied, ignoring her warning.

I continued outside and was able to walk just fine until I got to the part of sand that was very thin. I took a deep breath and started to walk across with my eyes closed. I knew that if I didn't look directly at the ocean that I wouldn't panic. But with my eyes closed I hadn't seen the massive wave heading right for me. I did hear the noise of the wave, and that caused me to open my eyes. I stood there frozen with fear unable to even blink as the wave hit me with a force that swept me off my feet. I must have gotten knocked out at some point, because I don't really remember anything after the wave hit.

I came to somewhere underwater and I began to panic and I tried to scream but my throat soon filled with water. I held my breath and tried to swim towards what I thought was the surface but It felt like I was being pulled downwards. Just as I thought it was the end for me, something grabbed the scruff of my neck ad pulled me out, tossing me down gently.

I coughed up some water and looked around for my savior, a plumerian who was standing a metre or two in front of me with a worried expression on their face.
"Hey are you alright?" they asked placing a paw on my shoulder.
I nodded unable to articulate my response. I felt the tears begin to well up in my eyes and tried to hold them back to no avail. The other plumie must've sensed my discomfort as they had moved to hug me and were whispering comforting words into my ear. I pressed my face into their fur and just let out all my tears, sobs wracked my body but I didn't care. After I had finished crying into their chest they stepped back and wiped the few remaining tears from my eyes.

"Why didn't you run when you saw that big wave coming?" they questioned, crouching down to my height.
"I wanted to, but I was so scared that I couldn't" I explained. I opened my mouth to say more but quickly closed it.
"Are you Afraid of the ocean, child?" they asked uncertainly. I looked down and away before replying "I-I umm... yes"

"Wait Here" they disappeared to a lower level of the boat for a moment before returning to the deck with what looked like a green flag in their mouth. They dropped it into their paws and tied it around my neck loosely. I looked at them quizzically and they laughed softly "Do you still feel Afraid?"
My eyes widened and I smiled "I don't!"

The other Plumie gleamed and with a sparkle in their eye said "that's the power of magic, Now lets take you home"
I wanted to hug them again but I didn't "Thank you so much" I exclaimed joyfully.
They started up the motor and the boat began to make it's way back to the docks. When we got back they grabbed the scarf and jumped out of the boat with me. They put me down and asked me where I lived,I pointed to the cliff that was not too far away. They picked me up by the scarf again and I yelped in shock.

"Don't worry I won't drop you" They said through the fabric. I calmed down and just hung there awkwardly as they trotted across the sand to the little cliff and up to my house. They put me down at the entrance and began to walk away. They turned around about half way gone "What is your name, child?"
"My name is Eris, But wait... what if I drown again?" I shuffled my paws against the ground.
"Do not Worry Eris, I will always be there to save you" they replied before dashing off.

So That's how I got it, a gift from a kind stranger
