No one had seen Sylvi
Not for years, over ten years.
Hiding behind illusions, being the bump in the night that the forest was known for. Only the animals that resided there knew the truth about this unseen plumerian. Sylvi was petrified of connections, people and conversations.. Everything "plumie" made her jittery and stressed. This is why Sylvi locked herself away in the quiet and stillness that was the heart of the forest. The only place that Sylvi could enjoy the magic of life.
Normally days were quiet and undisturbed, since people thought that the forest was haunted. And it sort of was. But today was extremely different, it was going to be a rather bumpy road for Sylvi Aine because today was the day someone finally found her.
The soft wispy sounds of paw pads drifted through the still forest, and the small chattering of the residents. Something was there. Someone was here. For some reason, this plumie had chosen to stay in a very well known haunted place. Sylvi put on her brave front, her spots illuminating and causing those that saw her to look like there was some terrible monster standing there.
Soon enough, this "monster" was standing in front of the stranger who was staring with awe. Sylvi roared and pounded on the ground, trying to act like rage had consumed her. But the plumerian in front of her sensed something was wrong. It might have been obvious that the creature in front of them was no monster but something scared and odd. So, unlike any before, the stranger stepped forward.
And Sylvi panicked and turned tail. 'H-How.. no one ever sees past my i-illusions!'

Sylvi ran, and as she did so did the illusion of the monster that safe guarded her. She barely understood what had happened and didn't notice that the plumerian stranger was still behind her following a few steps behind her. All Sylvi knew was her overwhelming terror and fear. Her mind was crumbling. And she was slowing down, her paw pads hitting the ground at a slower pace. It wasn't long before the stranger caught up to her, as she was collapsed against a tree.
The soft glow that covered her dark night pelt, was echoed in the trees that made up the small heart of the forest. This was her abode. This was her only home. As the stranger padded forward, Sylvi threw her head back towards them and showed the dark eyes that resembled a small frail child. She was drained, knew she had finally lost. Somebody had found her, and broke everything that she knew.
"Why are you so... alone?" The stranger asked, making sure to keep there voice quiet, realizing that she was like a wounded animal.
"I-I..p-people.. The world doesn't accept me.. L-look at me.." Sylvia choked back tears, when something amazing happened. The stranger moved up to her, knelt down and softly smiled. They pulled out a pendant, one that matched the colour of her lights. It was simple but beautiful. Much like Sylvi.
"Don't be afraid of me, I only wanted to know what had kept this forest so maintained and beautiful.. And don't think that you are a monster.. You are much like this pendent.. something that should be cherished. And you are.. by the family you call this forest."
The strangers words echoed in her ears, and for the first time she had smiled in front of another person. The feeling felt weird on her face, but it felt right. And that was the last thing she remembered before she woke up, still against the tree. Two things had changed. One, the stranger had disappeared. And second, the pendent had been slipped around her neck.
And for the first time, Sylvi saw something rare.
Hope. Gratitude. And odd happiness.
