Riley wrote:I was stranded in New York City, left alone in the warmth of the summertime with nowhere to go. I was taken in by an orphanage on Fifth Avenue, a strange place for poor children to be. Every day I would run off trying to find myself, what I wanted to do. Sometimes I feel like I blend in with the pigeons because I’m so plain, but they get scared of me sometimes and I can’t fly, so I don’t really fit in that well. I know that I really like coloring, it’s fun. I like to color inside the lines, and missus Maria taught me how to do shading! It looks good sometimes. I like to put feathers on my art too, I use pigeon feathers a lot. Someday, I’m going to be a chalk artist, and I’m going to have my own aviary like at the zoo!

Riley’s nickname is Riley the Wiley, lovingly given to him by Ms. Maria, the owner of the orphanage he stays at. He’s a clever little child, always bursting with energy. Though, he can have his mood swings just like every other kid, but most of the time he’s sweet and bubbly. He’s got big dreams for himself, which he thinks is only right because he’s heard that NYC is the city of dreams. Or at least, where they start. Riley likes library days, where he and a bunch of other Plumerians his age go out to the public library and read. His favorite books are ones that have bird pictures in them, or pictures of graffiti. Riley doesn’t actually read anything, since it’s too complex for him. He also likes the coloring pages there, and will sometimes read Dr. Seuss books. He prefers to be read to, but only by certain Plumerians.

Riley doesn’t mind that his birth parents left him at an orphanage. In fact, he doesn’t think much about it really. He’s overall very positive, and doesn’t hate the fact that he was abandoned. He loves his family, even if they aren’t related by blood. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for them. Well, as long as it isn’t mean. He doesn’t like being rude, or rude Plumerian’s, and he always tries to cheer others up by doing something funny even though it doesn’t always work.

Why do you love pigeons so much?Riley wrote:Because they kind of look like me! Except they have purply colors. They’re everywhere too, like a giant bird army, and I love their feathers. Except there aren’t a lot of me’s everywhere. And they’re funny, and I like the way they walk. And they eat everything, like me! But I don’t eat garbage. And I don’t get scared easily, like pigeons.
