His back markings remind me of a spider's legs lurking at the edge of their web.
The kind with those sinister black legs such as the red back.
The katipo spider is related to the red back, and the name just stuck with me.
Katipo is a Māori name and means night stinger; it is derived from two words, kakati (to sting), and po (the night).
This name was apparently given to the spider due to the Māori belief that the spiders bite at night.

Adores aeroplanes; wants to make one/ride one/something when he grows older and dreams of flying.
His dream is an odd one really, as when he was slightly younger he slipped down a little hill, not much of a ways, to an adult it'd be unremarkable, but to the young boy the sudden breaking of dirt and unable to stop himself from falling traumatised him into having a fear of falling. Some wonder how he can think he can possibly achieve his dream when he fears to fall, but this little psuedodragon hasn't put much thought into this just yet; he's only so young after all.
His sense of focus is so complete that Katipo's attention cannot be drawn away once he's focused on something, by anything until he falls asleep. Katipo so far prefers to listen rather than speak. To the point that when others hear him speak other than his parents, they jump slightly in suprise. Secretly he practices in front of reflective surfaces his speech, seeking to form every word correctly before he tries to use it before others.
He does not care for maintaining relationships if they get in the way of whatever he is focused on at the time. The best chance you have of speaking with Katipo is if you sit quietly near him for a time; he'll get up at come to you at some point, preferring to approach than be approached. If he does this and it's one of his parents (generally it'd be Reno he'd actually speak to like this, with William he speaks slower and without a stutter) he can shoot words out so fast you'd be lucky to get a single word in yourself as Katipo speaks about his recent activities. At these times becomes interested in what the others have been doing.
This does not mean he is a loner; he dislikes being alone as it makes him feel vulnerable.
He doesn't have the desire to play with others, or more to the point doesn't even understand the concept.
Has a very narrow view point, and if you argue with Katipo, he can become completely closed off to you for days sometimes even weeks. Some have suggested to Reno that he may indeed have autism, of the higher cognitive functioning sort.
Likes -- aeroplanes, the sky, engines, loud repetitive noises, flat/smooth horizontal surfaces. Watermelon. Cheese. Favourite colour is blue. Learning. Strangers (this greatly worries his family as he has no sense whatsoever of stranger danger, despite Reno trying his best (along with others) in explaining it to him)
Dislikes -- falling, cracks in the ground, sand banks (due to likelyhood of slipping), long tall grass that he can get lost in. Lemons. Apples. Celery. Least favourite colour is purple. Sleeping. Following the leader (whoever that may be). Being forced into doing things.
Favourite Movie: The Imitation Game
Favourite Saying:

He's most connected to William. He has a decently good connection with his other father, but William is the one Katipo prefers over all others. This may be due to him being the most likely to just ignore the little pseudodragon as he quietly does whatever he's doing, and doesn't try to actively bother Katipo about eating, sleeping, washing, or whatever other daily and weekly things his other father forces him into doing. Katipo has a knack for understanding how much William has patience for that day, and whether the voices are being particularly bad at any given moment. At times he'll entirely avoid William due to this.
Katipo cannot read most body language or normal social ques with anyone else, and this is another reason why he prefers William as he is less confused by him.
With Reno...He gets...
uncomfortable. Honestly this is solely due to Reno being the one that will pick Katipo up and try and get him to do things within a regular routine along with the others. He's just not compliant with this sort of thing and so when Reno is near Katipo gradually gets more and more on edge wondering what task will he be made to do next.
He also feels his father, whilst normally very patient with him, gets quite frustrated, or at least Katipo feels he gives off waves of frustration. He does highly admire and love his father, their relationship just tends to become strained - generally this is more on Katipo's side of things than Reno's - whenever Reno has to pull him away from whatever the boy is doing to get him to do the things required for daily living. This does not mean to say he dislikes actual routine, just others consistently trying to break away his focus on something to get him to do unnecessary (in his opinion) things. Katipo has his own little routine that he keeps to himself.
Even so, they have adorable quiet moments when the subject involves aeroplanes, and Reno helps him build little model planes when he has the spare time to help. So far Katipo has four model aeroplanes and has a very strong fondness for them all.
Vellius. Now you'd think they'd get along well. But they do not. The knocking lego (or the blocks) down bothers Katipo greatly, as it's meant to stay that way forever once it's built in his opinion. They can get into arguments about this sometimes. Neither of them can get a word in when talking to each other, and they just generally come to so many misunderstandings about each other.
One of his siblings utterly and undoubtedly
fascinates him.
This is Israel. Her personality is just so out there to him compared to the rest of the family that he is drawn to her like a moth to a flame. If he's not with William he'll be trotting at this girl's heels, or doing things quietly nearby.
Wiett would be the one that is best, or closest to, being a role model for Katipo. Their dry humour is often the most confusing thing he finds in his life so far. He's never able to understand it, but he would like to. Respects her strictness and organisation, but doesn't like that being put onto himself.
His last sibling Eskandar, excluding his twin, he has a difficult to describe relationship with. On the one hand, they get along well, or as well enough as two young siblings can, but on the flip side they can't understand each other at all sometimes. Especially when Katipo wants someone to talk to, and William isn't in the mood and he can't find Israel, and he tries to start talking to Eskandar, and his big brother just doesn't get what Kapito is trying to talk about.
As Katipo isn't bothered by, nor does he judge, any odd behaviour - mostly this is due to him being young, not knowing what is 'normal' and just not finding it important - they can get along and look out for each other more or less.
But more often than not, there is a...barrier... between Eskandar and him, which suprisingly bothers Katipo, this can even send Katipo into a brooding slump.
As for his twin, Katipo enjoys watching over them, and secretly seeing what they do every now and then by watching from as far away as he can, but close enough to hear. Prefers not to get actively involved with his twin however.
