Let's paint a picture, imagine a little filly being born and left on her own with no memory of her parents; it seems less hurtful. Starts with Toffee getting cozy and comfy before falling asleep, her gossamer hair from her tail resting at her side. But Toffee's biggest dream is to find a family. Just a simple happy family with a two quids who love her and take care of her, she dreams of it every night. Some nights it plays out different, this night was the most different night.
She awakes by herself, lost and confused. Where was she? Where was anyone else? Was she alone? She thought she was, so she stood up and stumbled around; very unfamiliar on her hooves. She was unskilled beyond belief, kept stumbling and falling. At some point she got her balance, keeping her fragile body up long enough to look around and familiarize herself with her surroundings. Took her awhile to get her balance enough to be able to walk around, much like any young animal on their feet; it is all clumsy.
After she’s adjusted to the newfangled changes of being alive, she starts to move around and get a feel for the ground and the wind against her body. She loves it all, the rush of the wind, and the heat of the sun beating down on her. She gets a flash of excitement; she jumps a little her back legs kick out from underneath her and into the air. She’s unsure she’ll even land this odd movement, but she does and she’s overjoyed with herself. She can’t help but explore, although the idea of it is almost alarming; she manages to start moving.
She is on her own for now, scratch that – hours. It’s nearing dusk, her eyes are slowly adjusting to the dark and she can see a little. She is easily spooked by the movement of something ahead of her, she stumbled off towards the bush until she gets a better look of the animal. It’s an equine, she’s stares at the body for a bit before she comes to the conclusion that the stranger is much like her. She clumsily heads towards the unknown, finding a mare who seemed to look like her. She falls to the ground and lands with a little thud, she looks up at the mare with a smile on her face.
“Hi.” The tone of her voice is nervous mixed with the perfect amount of fear, it takes only a few more replies before the two are comfortable with each other, it seems like a second before nightfall has abandoned and daybreak has begun she decides to go out on another adventure. She has no idea where that mare went, but it doesn’t sit long because she is changed her thoughts soon after. On the road again, stepping lively as she goes. Until she comes across a little barn, it seems very calm.
She can’t help her inquisitiveness, and she sneaks on into the little arena. She is meddling in places she shouldn’t be, she comes across a few equines; much like her! She’s coming across a lot of her like others and it makes her happy, maybe one of these are her parents! She bounces over towards one, a stallion. She easily clicks with him, and another comes along and they are easily made as friends. She explains the other one she met, but they have no clue who she is.
And the dream ends with her waking up, very excited to see her parents but realizing it was all a dream. And that’s all she thought it would be, until one day; it happens. A light brown mare, chestnut stallion and grey stallion. Just like in her dream, and the twist to this was they knew her and she had found a family. The three agreed to look after her, she gets the best of both worlds. Domestic week days with Fredrick and Hurricane, the sweet calm dad and with the grump-tastic protective dad. The wild weekends with Andromeda, the lush carefree mother.
