Dexter is, simply put, anti-social. He prefers being alone above anything else, and despises the company of another Belldee. Yes, at times, he does get lonely, but he manages to deal with it. After all, it's not like anyone would WANT to talk to him. He's very pessimistic, rude, and altogether unpleasant to be around. Most Belldees, after not even five minutes of talking to him, would just storm off in a huff. He commonly insults others without knowing it, and for this, he is severely disliked in the community. Nobody really wants to be around him, to say the least.
But that's not all there is to this quirky Belldee. Oh, no - there's MUCH more. Dexter isn't rude just because he wants to be. It's because he's scared - that is the reason as to why he's rude. He's scared that those he cherishes most will turn on him, or be taken away from him, so he does all he can to push them away. Those who try to befriend him are immediately shot down with a harsh tongue lashing and a cruel heart. But those who really know him know the truth - that he's terrified of being forgotten, abandoned, left behind.
Commonly misunderstood, Dexter is very irritable. When other Belldees don't get what he's saying, or how he thinks, he gets extremely frustrated - sometimes to the point of screaming at them. Dexter hates being misunderstood. He hates it. When others question him, or try to suggest doing things another way, he gets mad and immediately begins acting like a jerk to them. But that's all it really is - acting. He puts up this facade so others will fear him, and that way, in the end, he won't get hurt. If you don't let anybody inside, nobody can hurt you.
Dexter also has a bit of a God-complex - that is, he thinks and acts as if he's of a higher power than everyone else. Other Belldees don't understand why he acts like this, and sometimes, neither does Dexter. But the fact and the matter is that he just wants attention. All his life, Dexter was ignored and neglected. He never got the tender, loving care that he deserved, so he decided, one way or another, he'd get attention. So he'll act out - if you're rude and cruel to everyone else, then they'll hate you, but gosh darn it, at least they'll notice you.
Overall, Dexter is anti-social, rude, pessimistic, irritable, annoying... But most of all, he's scared. If one can push their way past this cold facade, they'll find it's very warm inside. He'll follow you around like a puppy dog, and will try hard to protect you, using insults and empty threats to try and ward off any potential enemies. But do not take his trust simply to break it. That, my friend, is a decision you will regret making.
