Obsidian is a rather calm and peaceful person. But around close people, she becomes a little louder and more teasing. She has a bad temper, but that rarely comes out. She's a little awkward when it comes to affection and outwardly showing it, but tries to show it as well as she can. She loves technology and is often on a computer, looking up news or making programs. She's more adventurous then she lets out, and likes to tease her loved ones.

Father; Hercules

Cocky, but nice when he wants to be. Herc is a little prideful, he's always on the move and often can't sit still even when he is sleeping. He likes to be up and about as much as he can be weither it's volunteering to help or just going out on a walk he jumps at the chance. He'll often rush head first into things recklessly and think about it later, he's brave beyond belief, fear? He doesn't know the meaning of the word; being brave and couragous is his style. Overall he is a really fun loving guy, who can't help but stand out in the sea of people, He's also the type of guy that girls fawn over because of his cool looks and affable personality.

personality;; the first thing one will notice about bastien is his bashfulness. he prefers not to speak to those he's not familiar with, and he's silent a majority of the time for the sake of being left alone. he's highly introverted and doesn't necessarily recieve anxiety when speaking to others, but he does feel highly uncomfortable. his personality revolves around a timid personality, as he's easily terrified and avoids anything distinctly spooky or suspicious to the best of his abilities. halloween tends to scare him, so he helps out his parents hand out candy, but he still finds himself curled up in a shaking ball, engulfed in a blanket burrito on halloween night because of one or two spooky costumes.

he's overly cautious and refuses to do anything risky: unless his sister is at his side, of course. together, the two of them could take on the world and go for world domination. unlike anyone else, he is very comfortable around his twin and trusts her with everything he has, unlike others, who he has trouble trusting and becoming acquainted with. there's only a select few that he trusts, and he really refuses to deal with those who make him uneasy, though sometimes he is dragged into drama with strangers by his friends, who stubbornly push him into conflicts. on top of this, bastien is highly submissive and meek, preferring to be a follower rather than a leader. despite this, he is confident in his choices, and refuses to give up, but will hide his opinion if it makes others look down on him or judge him. he feels uneasy when others are around him, whispering or laughing, and wonders if he is the cause of their giggles and hushed language.

bastien's intelligence is higher than most plumerians his age, as he is constantly studying or reading books. he finds pleasure in reading book after book, and his favorite smell is the scent of books and paper and new ink. he is an aspiring writer, despite his young age, and has high confidence that he can write a book or something cool in his future; his dreams of becoming a bestselling author will be pursued urgently and with plenty of interest, as he has decided over the years. he's usually either reading or spending his time on the internet, as a secondary interest of his is learning the art of computer programming from his mother. his main goal in life is to write a play for his actor of a father to star in, and promises his dad after every performance that he will dish out that script sometime, which hercules only laughs at and nods, which makes the boy smile. bastien's vocabulary is advanced for his age, and he carries around a small dictionary at all times.

obsidian [mother] - bastien is definitely a release from a busy day for his mother, who appreciates his laid-back personality as he usually curls up next to her with a book as she types away at her laptop. her more adventurous, outgoing side is spent with ori, and the rebellious, energetic little plumerian is usually bouncing off the wall, so obsidian's cooldown time is definitely spent with the quieter of the two. they are very close, and bastien confides his thoughts and secrets in his mother more commonly than his father. obsidian sometimes hurts his sensitive feelings by harmless teasing, but a few tickles and plenty of laughter is enough to brighten him back up. he insists on bedtime stories even at his age.

hercules [father] - as hercules is definitely more prideful and arrogant and his son is more introverted, bastien tends to be intimated of his father, yet he is very fond of the male plumerian. bastien begs and pleads if he can attend every production hercules performs in, and usually he has to drag his mother and sister along as well, excited to know another story to perhaps tell down the line. he is extremely fun and sometimes hercules will declare to the twins that they're going out to play at the city playground or go grab some candy and watch a movie or two. they've done other things, but more dangerous, such as went tubing at the lake, and bastien can remember his father leaning in with a twinkle in his eyes saying: "don't tell mom." somehow obsidian always finds out, though. bastien and hercules are very close.

ori [sister] - the troublemaker and the good boy wouldn't really be best friends, but when they're twins, something just clicks and they fit together like perfect puzzle pieces. ori tends to involve bastien in activities and she is constantly trying to ease him out of his shell. he is the younger twin, so he strives to be like his sister, and is very jealous of her carefree demeanor. she's coaxed him into a few pranks and a few naughty actions such as helping her up onto the counter to sneak a few more cookies, and when their objective is done they scamper to either of their rooms and eat their cookies in secret. ori and bastien are the best of friends and whilst they fight, it's not very common.

how/where did he get his scarf from;;
"missus joselina, i'm here now!" called a small plumerian as he entered a room in the wild hills nursing home, his face immediately brightening as he noticed the old plumerian, her fur graying in many places, sitting in the bed, her hands working with the same needles her paws clutched everyday on the royal purple scarf, the garment lengthening with each day. bastien cheerfully walked over to the bed and scooted over the small armchair like he did everyday, holding a book close to him. he perched himself in the chair, grinning a wide smile. old lady joselina was one of his favorite plumerians of all time, and he honestly considered her like a grandmother to him. she only laughed and patted his head when he'd called him grandma a long time back, feigning a joking attitude, but the look in her eyes had been bright and loving.

missus joselina was widowed, but she still insisted bastien call her 'missus'. the old plumie was losing her sense of sight, as proven by the slight cloudy sheen beginning to appear over her beautiful blue irises. a long time ago she had told him she used to be very famous, an actor on the big screens. when he'd sifted through obsidian's movie, he found her, and had rushed back the next day to show his excitement and his opinion on the film. bastien had only begun reading to her around two months ago as his teacher at school had made the school go read to the older plumerians at the nursing home, but joselina had stuck with him, and he came back every tuesday to read to her again.

"hello, bastien," spoke joselina, her voice old and jaded, but holding such a tone of serenity it never ceased to make bastien feel at home. "what are we going to be reading today?" she smiled, and the creases under her eyes made her look old, but she looked so young as she smiled at the same time.

"we'll be finishing the book to kill a mockingbird!" he exclaimed. "we have two chapters left, aren't you thrilled? i haven't read it before, missus joselina. this will be my first time finishing the novel and i've been holding off for you, but i really wanted to finish it this week! i just barely managed to hold back."

she chuckled. "great. i can't wait to hear it." with that, she kept on moving the knitting needles skillfully, being able to knit the scarf without even looking at the needles.

bastien watched her for a moment before grinning softly, and he opened the book to where the cute pastel pink bookmark was nestled in between the pages and began reading.

they only managed to find themselves halfway through the last chapter when bastien peered at the clock. there had been so many comments and conversation sprinkled in in between words and sentences that it was time for him to be picked up by his mother! "oh, missus joselina, i need to go!! it was so nice reading for you, i hope you'll be able to bear the anticipation until next week!!" he grinned widely, about to climb down from the chair, but her voice stopped him.

"bastien," she whispered, her voice seeming much older all of a sudden as she handed him the purple scarf. "please take this. i've been knitting you the scarf for a while but i only just finished it today. i know you'll take good care of it." she then smiled sadly. "don't forget me, little bastien."

this earned a puzzled look from the smaller. "of course i won't!" he exclaimed, taking the soft scarf and wrapping it around his neck intricately. "thank you so much, missus josie! i'll be back next week, same time!" he left quickly, putting the bookmark back in the book and closing it before scampering out of the room.

the next tuesday, the young plumerian returned to the nursing home, reaching to push the small bell on the receptionist's desk. a female, looking to be around nineteen or twenty, approached the counter. "how can i help you?" she asked with a heartwarming grin.

bastien smiled back. "i'm here to read to missus joselina!" but by the way the receptionist's face fell, bastien's fell as well.

"joselina passed away last tuesday night. but they said she died with a smile on her face."
