Explanation

Obon is an annual
Buddhist event
for commemorating
one's ancestors. It i
s believed that each
year during obon,
the ancestors' spirits
return to this world
in order to visit their
relatives.

Traditionally, lanterns
are hung in front
of houses to guide
the ancestors' spirits,
obon dances (bon odori)
are performed, graves
are visited and food
offerings are made
at house altars and
temples.

At the end of Obon,
floating lanterns are
put into rivers, lakes
and seas in order to
guide the spirits
back into their world.
The customs
followed vary
strongly from
region to region.

favorite part of japanese culture: Her favorite would have to be the traditional Japanese music. She loves the elegancy of it, and how it reminds her of the simpler times, back in old Japan. When listening to the music, she falls into a total zen state, her usually perky attitude becoming very calm and slow. Her favorite traditional song is Sakura Sakura, she loves the mellow feel and the sound of the Koto. In fact, her favorite japanese instrument in music is the Koto, because of it's japanese twinge to it, as well as it's guitar-ish sound.
Personality: Bubble, as her name suggests, is an extremely bubbly person. Her parents say that she was named that because of her bubbly demeanor, it was originally a joke her father suggested, but it ended up sticking. She is very optimistic, always seeing the bright side in things, no matter what the situation is. She is able to cheer anyone up if they are in a stressful spot, and is always able to keep the mood light. Bubble is also very creative, constantly thinking of new things to do such as crafts, or even songs. When she feels creative, she usually makes a stuffed animal, no one knows why, but she has an entire collection of them. She's also written a lot of songs with her creativity, many of them depicting friendship or candy. Makings songs is also easier for her, since she has been very musical since she was a little girl. She's always loved singing and making songs, but she's never been brave enough to actually allow someone to hear her. Her songs are very upbeat, and are usually in the genre of J-Pop.

Honorable mention to Houndy Doom, I really liked her name, and her favorite part about the culture is really unexpected, but wonderful nonetheless! The art was wonderful, too.
