His Name: Hallow
How did you meet him?:
I first met Hallow in a pet shop actually. I always loved walking in and visiting all the animals there, though Hallow was the first of his kind to be brought to that particular shop. I had always heard about them before, but they were never sold in the small pet shops that I visited all the time. They were usually always in the high-end and expensive pet shops that I certainly could not afford. So, you can probably guess how surprised I was when I walked in one day and came across him!
When I saw him, I fell in love. I walked over to his cage and simply watched him from above, since there was no way I could afford him. He would usually just stare back at me before walking around the cage. Then, he would return to staring at me. This little tradition of ours followed for many, many weeks. I would come in, visit all the animals, then visit him to stare. It was like a never-ending staring contest.
Eventually, around Halloween, he did something particularly odd. The storekeeper had recently bought a television set, switching it on. Hallow had looked away form me for the first time that day, glancing at the TV. As soon as he movie Nightmare before Christmas came on, the little Pseudodragon smiled. He seemed to really love the movie! I watched him for a bit, giggling at his happiness. I was so absorbed that I didn't notice the storekeeper coming behind me. She explained that nobody around here could afford the poor thing. What was even funnier was that he seemed to love the TV, especially when a Halloween themed movie or something similar came on.
That's when the most amazing thing happened. She asked if I would like to take him home with me. She had noticed all the visits I made and decided that it would be better for him to have a real home. I tried to explain that I couldn't afford him, but she simply smiled and explained that he was free of charge. At that point, Hallow was staring at the both of us.
With that, Hallow was released from his cage for the first time since arriving there. He seemed shocked, glancing around wildly and cautiously taking small steps out. After a few moments, he seemed to realize it was safe and started running around. I didn't realize how much energy he had!
I could go on about our trip to my home, but thats a whole different story.
