name;; aoba
- meaning “blue leaf”
- it is an appropriate name, as
parts of aoba’s fur are dappled brighter
than others; imitating the way the sun
filters down through a canopy of leaves
gender;; male
- male but not masculine
- aoba isn’t really sure where his stands with his sexuality,
more or less because he is clueless and carefree about relationships
personality;;
Like the gentle colors of his fur,
Aoba takes after a bright blue sky.
The dark hue of a stormy sea is something that he knows not of, or atleast something that he keeps very well hidden. Some might wish there was such a side to Aoba in order to even him out, but only those who don’t really know him. While Aoba may appear to be annoying at first with his sudden bursts of excitement and aloof manner, as you spend more time with him you will learn that his underlying demeanor is very calm and friendly.it is only with the heart that one can see rightly.......what is essential is invisible to the eye
inquisitive;;
Aoba has always been very curious about the workings of the world, and has always satisfied that hunger by reading.
When Aoba was younger he would devour large textbooks and encyclopedias, but now that he is older he leans more towards social networking sites and online media for his learning fix.
However Aoba is never truly satisfied in this manner, because the knowledge that he wants for most is out of his reach- the knowledge of the future. It holds a certain appeal to him partly because it is unobtainable, and partly because of the value that he would have upon learning it. Aoba would rather know the story that nobody else knows as opposed to the story that everyone else knows. But of course there is no way for Aoba to know the future before it happens, so he mostly settles for being a part of the future and staying on top of all scientific discoveries and breaking news stories.
After checking all of his top news sites though, Aoba still has plenty of time and energy for more leisurely learning. The sites that he frequents for his casual learning include Reddit, Imgur, and Wikipedia.
Alongside of his news obsession, Aoba is also very concerned with staying on the cutting edge of technology. Aoba owns no less than four Apple products, and a bigger Apple fanboy would be hard to find. He considers Apple to be the leading computer brand and will never settle for anything less. Aoba uses his Macbook for serious reading and writing at his desk, his iPad for casual browsing and watching in his bed, his iPhone for looking up things on the go, and his iPod for listening to podcasts and music.
brave;;
Every day is an adventure for Aoba
Some days the adventures happen inside. Aoba loves to play tactical RPG games and Visual Novels, but only the ones that he considers to be exciting or thought provoking enough. Likewise when he reads his fiction novels, he values the plot and the characters above all. Unlike most people, Aoba dosen’t make much of a distinction between his books and his games, and values both mediums based on their individual advantages.
What is most important to understand though, it that when Aoba is reading his books and playing his games, he honestly considers himself to be adventuring alongside of the characters there. If you make fun of him for this and point out that the characters and the experiences aren’t real, he will get very defensive and insist that that isn’t the point. If you listen to him after he calms down a little he will explain to you that he knows that the stories he immerses himself in aren’t real, he’s not crazy, but that stories are able to come to life in the confines of one’s mind.
Aoba’s favorite genres of story are science fiction and fantasy, but still he values plot and intrigue over genre, and at the end of the day thinks that the best thing that a story can have it lots of adversity.Some of Aoba’s favorite books and games;
The Bartimaes Trilogy
The World Ends With You
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Cloud Atlas
Harry Potter
The Little Prince
However that is not to say that Aoba spends his whole day behind a screen or between pages. In the afternoons it is very common for Aoba to go "questing", as he calls it, through the woods and the shorelines around his home. Imitating the characters in his RPG games and fantasy novels, he will dash around in the wilderness looking for excitement and treasure. Excitement is something that Aoba always finds on these expeditions, for it is something that he starts out with, but it is debatable as to whether he actually finds what one might call treasure.
The woods with their caves and trees are Aoba’s favorite place to go questing, but he also loves to going exploring in the sea. Aoba is a natural at swimming and diving, and sometimes he will do either or both even when he is not questing. He especially loves the way that the world looks when he is staring up from under the waves, and the feeling of lightness that he gets when afloat in the water.
Aoba has a sort of wiry strength due to all this scampering and swimming, but nobody would ever call him muscular.
just;;
Aoba has a very strong sense of justice, and when faced with conflict he will always supports the side that he believes to be right and just, despite whatever disadvantages it might cause him. Backing up his arguments with detail and logic, Aoba’s cool head has frustrated more than one opponent.
He allows nothing to get in the way of his decisions, not even his loyalty to friends, which can make him quite unpopular at times.
loyal;;
However it is not that Aoba is disloyal to his friends, it is just that he is more loyal to himself. Aoba is not afraid to stand up for his ideals, and puts them before everything else. He is still quite faithful to his friends, and will support and defend them as long as they don’t do things that compromise his beliefs.
And being let down by Aoba isn’t quite a knife in the back. When he is in a situation where he is forced to put his loyalty to his beliefs over his loyalty to his friends, he will make an effort to help them see their faults, so that the same situation dosen’t arise again. He can get a little infuriating but he means well.
naïve;;
However despite all of these admirable traits that lie within Aoba’s heart, there is something unsavory that lies underneath them; making itself known every moment of every day.
Aoba is incredibly naïve and his ignorance inevitably twists everything that he does. He is so busy worrying about the future that he forgets to live in the present. He rushes himself through so many adventures that it has become more of a habit than an enlightening experience. He tries to create justice in the world, but in unable to see the world in more than black and white. He dosen’t know anything other than his “good guy, bad guy” mentality, and when asked a question he will only ever answer yes or no, which causes a significant margin of error in all his decisions. The finer concepts of gray and maybe are lost to Aoba, as are the deeper themes of his books. He loves to learn, but he has not yet learned how to truly comprehend. The ideas are just data to him, to be regurgitated into compelling arguments, but they don’t mean anything to him, and even worse, they don’t make him feel anything. He takes his games and fiction too seriously, and gets frustrated when real life dosen’t match up to the fantasy. When he goes swimming he will occasionally forget the consequences of the real world and get himself into dangerous situations. He dosen’t consider the implications of his actions, of his choices and the way that he lives his life, and what his ideals of justice and enlightenment really mean.
But even though this naivety spreads so far and corrupts so much, there is still hope for Aoba. He has faults, so many faults, but he is only at the bottom of the mountain looking up. Aoba has nothing but room for improvement, and depending on what choices he makes and what paths he takes, the future can be very bright indeed. Such power is a double edged sword of course, and the scales could easily be tipped the other way if he is not careful.
However when looking at this happy blue sky of a Ceiral, it is hard to imagine that he will do anything but shine.explanations;;
I have never played DMD, but I didn’t let that get in the way of my trying out for this Ceiral. I did research into the plot and characters, and while I do lack a perfect understanding of the game, did my best to borrow from the character of the real Aoba while adding elements that would allow me to better connect and understand this Aoba. This Aoba may have a bit more attitude and ego, but is still calm and likeable, and most importantly shares the experience of having many paths and endings open to him, and many decisions to make.
I understand that I have left his future a bit open ended, but I find it appropriate for a character out of a visual novel.
And yes, I have plans for Aoba to be gay, but right now at this moment in time he doesn't have any clue what he is. I find it quite unrealistic to have characters automatically knowing what they are without any experience in the matter, and to not experience any sort of turmoil; so those two things are bound to be part of Aoba's future.
