Wham! I ignored the dent I had made in the locker. I ignored the throbbing pain in the back of my head. Come on, faster! Get up! Before I could move, I was thrown back onto the floor. I winced with every blow – cringed after every time I hit the wall. I was battered and bruised all over. Every step away from him brought a shot of pain through my legs. Oh well. It had happened before. I could deal with it… right?
Allow me to introduce myself. The name’s Computatrum, Latin for all sorts of techy-sounding and smart things. Arithmetician, accountant, calculator, and most importantly to me, computer. Call me Tate though – It’s shorter. You see, I’m kind of a geek, like a said before. I can hack anything, create any sort of formatting on any program, create any sort of website, etc. You get the picture.
Crawling into bed that night was harder then usual. The bruises made it impossible to sleep. The next morning, my mom asked me why I looked so bleary and tired. The worry in her gaze and the concern in her voice broke my heart – especially when I lied to her. “Nothing,” I mumbled. “Just up late working on homework.” I hated it, but I couldn’t let her worry.
The next day before lunch, yet another kid was the victim of the guy who had beat me up. I couldn’t stand it. I winced and cringed at every blow and every time he fell to the ground. I felt where I had been punched and smacked just days before, every time he was hit. I couldn’t tear my eyes away, despite how horrified I was. I couldn’t go up and stop it. I wasn’t exactly… well… muscular. I was more on the scrawny, gangly side. Besides, the bully would’ve just knocked my away and kept doing what he was doing. I came up with every excuse my mind could think of so that I wouldn’t have to stand up to him.
Day after day, kids were beat up, shut in lockers, blackmailed. Every night, I thrashed in bed, nightmares forming in my head, all about innocent kids being tormented in the halls. Every time I stood frozen and rigid with fear.
I stood there, horrified. Frozen. Unable to move. He backed her into a corner threatening her, ignoring the anguished cries of the kindergartener’s older sister. He was going to get revenge for her standing up to him, but through someone much younger and more vulnerable. It sickened me.

When he as finished, she ran into her sister’s arms, crying, a black eye beginning to swell. It had been a month since he’d ruined me. I was done with it. I was sick of it. And I would be he one to stop it.
During every class I lost my focus. My mind wandered. I was too busy plotting to do any work. My eyes were always narrowed, by back stiff with anger. My tail lashed in agitation, and I had to be careful not to hurt anyone. Sure, eyes followed me and my out-of-character behavior down the halls, but that wouldn’t stop me. I had made myself a mission, and I was going to complete it.

I finally reached my lair of a bedroom, which doubled as my own little computer lab. My desk was littered with computers, computer monitors, computer mice, and hardware, papers covered in codes and keys, and was a general mess. I dropped into my nice rolling office chair with purpose, and pulled myself up close to the screen. The bullying was going to stop.
I couldn’t stand up to him physically, I was too weak in the body and scared in my mind, but I had other ways to do things. With focus and concentration, I could make a difference. These thoughts swirled through my mind as my paws flew across keyboards, swiped across mouse pads, and scribbled things down on sticky notes. I leaned in to the screen. I made a final command. A final click. Hit a final key. With a grim yet satisfied smile, I went to bed, not noticing the blinking “2:00” on my alarm clock.
When I woke up the following morning, I quickly ate breakfast, kissed my mother’s cheek, waved goodbye to my dad and headed out the front door. I walked cofidentely into the school building, and waited patiently outside of my first class for the day I stared at the large monitor that usually displayed school news and important notifications. I glanced at my watch. 3… the second hand moved a millimeter. 2… the bell rang. 1! The screen began to flash red. The words “Important Message” were sprawled across it. I felt all eyes turn to it, even the teachers’. Yes, it’s going to work! Carefully chosen videos were displayed for all to see, the dreaded bully’s reign of terror on display in front of everyone. Of course, I was sensitive to some of the violence and made sure that it wouldn’t be to awful for some to watch. When it ended, a stunned silence fell over the school. I heard some scuffling and yelling. A few seconds later, cheering broke out across all the classrooms. “What’s going on?!” I frantically asked a fellow classmate. She grinned at me. “he’s been expelled! He’s gone!” My face lit up. My plan had worked. I tiny little person like me had made a bigger difference than I could have imagined.
Ever since then, I’ve become more social. I’m 18 years old in my senior year of high school, and have some really close friends. I actually get out of the house to hang out with and enjoy them. I use my computer skills to help out with things whenever I can, and now, whenever there’s a problem with something, I’m always ready to just stand up and stop it, both for real and with the skills and talents that I have.
Well, I think I'm finished now. Wow, the coding... I'm so proud of myself! xD I tried my best! Good luck, all!
Oh, and I thought I'd clarify that yes, I went over this many times and went through many drafts and yes, I did get it checked over by a friend. Thanks Resolution! <33
