Story: Buck was the outcome of a champion western pleasure award winning father, and a brood mare who won every prize their was at every show she went to. As a young foal, people offered a lot of money to buy him from the owners, who refused every time. As soon as Buck was old enough, he was competing in confirmation classes against many other promising foals, and usually was placing in the top 3. Buck continued to live his life in royalty as he was trained and competed. At every show he want to, he came home with a rosette or a trophy. At the age of five, on the way home from a western pleasure show, the truck pulling the trailer Buck was in spun out of control, and landed on its side, leaving both of the drivers in the hospital, and buck and a few of their other champion foals stuck in the tipped over trailers. After hours trying to get the horses out of the wrecked trailer, they where raced to an equine medical hospital. Buck had a fractured knee. The vets said that it looked promising, but it would be very expensive to treat. The owners got out of the hospital with no broken bones, just a few bumps, bruises, and stitches. They agreed to do whatever was needed to help Buck, as long as he was not in too much pain. The owners looked and looked for a stable where Buck could stall rest for 6 months to let the knee heal after the operation. It needed daily treatment, and lots of attention given to him so he would not get to board in his stall. They found cottonwood ranch, and started boarding him at the stables. After the 6 months had passed, Buck could finally be let out of his stall and start excersizing. The owners saw how much time and love he got, and how attached he had become to the people at Cottonwood, so they asked if we would like to buy him. We gratefully accepted! Now Buck is a happy horse who is leased to a 14 year old girl by cottonwood, and occasionally does lessons with youth.
