Username: Merlin's Heir
Equid's Name: Sanguine
Age: 3 years
Height: 14hh
Gender: Stallion
Personality: Sanguine, to those who know him, is true to his name - cheerful. A laughing, joke-loving prankster, Guin (GU-in) is the equid you go to for a smile. He's always got a funny trick up his sleeve - err, mane? - and never runs out of puns. He appreciates all kinds of respectful humor, from irony to totally ridiculousness. He is the kind of equid that will burst out laughing because of a stupid joke that he just made up on the spot.
Guin isn't just the fun-loving clown. He can also be very deep, sincere, and thoughtful. He is a kind, helpful gentleman, though this part of him is not seen as often as his joker side (he's almost always laughing with a large group of friends). He's always the first to volunteer to help with something, be it finding a lost foal's mother or helping an equid escape from the humans.
Guin is also a very curious equid that loves to learn. He knows that there is always something new to learn every day, and he is always excited to learn it. He is also quite imaginative - not just when it comes to making up jokes. He is quite the talented story-teller (and story-writer) and loves to act. He and his "Band of Bros," as he calls his group of friends, are often putting on performances for the other equids.
Loyal is another word to describe him. He always believes his friends and never lets them down. This doesn't mean he's going to trust just anyone, though - he is careful about choosing the right company, because he knows that the wrong company leads to bad things.
Now... When it comes to romance, Guin... Well, he's not the best and one of the best. You see, despite his very friendly and social personality, he finds it quite hard to admit that he likes someone. Once past that initial barrier, however, he is very loving and sincere. He understands the female race a little better than some other stallions do (probably due to the fact that his father died before he was born and he was the only boy in his family), so he's not completely lost on how to treat a lady. He is a very good listener and actually pays attention instead of spacing out during a long story. He's quite the nice guy - if her can just get past telling a mare that he likes her.
Impatient. Yep, that's right, Guin isn't perfect. He, too, has his faults. One of them, probably one of his biggest, is his impatience (right up there next to "too self-confident"). He always has trouble waiting for things, and while he does manage to keep most of his complaints to himself, it can make him a bit on edge and excitable.
Overall, Guin is a pretty nice guy. A loyal, helpful actor who can make anyone smile. I have to say, I'd love to have a friend like him.
First Impression: A stuck-up jerk or dark, evil overlord. Either those, or his true self. It really depends on the kind of equid that is getting this first impression and what kind of mood Guin is in at the time. Because it really all depends on how you look at others. I'll use my equids as examples.
Ithil, my adventurous mare who likes to imagine things all the time, got the impression that he was a ruler of evil (half due to her imagination, I must admit), partially because of his coloring and name (sanguine also means 'bloody'). He was plotting a comedy play with his friends, and he was going to play the antagonist. He walked up to Ithil and, half for practice for the play and half for fun, said, "Kneel before the Dark King Sanguine!" Ithil just took off running. She did come to know him better, though, and now those words are a joke between them.
Anvar, a serious, leader-like stallion, thought of him as a stuck-up jerk, despite his rarely basing his idea of someone off of a first impression. Guin was in one of his goofy moods and went around pretending to be a prince. "This ground is too dusty!" "These equids are not fit to socialize with me." "Take me back to my palace, attendants." You get the idea. Everyone else there already knew that Guin was just being silly, but Anvar, not knowing his ludicrous ways, mistook his act for his true nature and reproached him for it. Guin and his "attendants" (friends) just burst out laughing. They didn't get the chance to explain because Anvar, in despair, just left them to their hysterics. Someone else eventually told Anvar why it was so funny, but Anvar never did get to know Guin, unfortunately.
And then there's Endros, Guin's best friend and Ithil's son. Ithil warned him about Guin after the "Kneel before the Dark Lord Sanguine!" incident, but Endros didn't really take much notice of it (he doesn't judge someone before he's even met them). He has a bit of a joker side himself underneath his more distant layer, and suspected that perhaps Guin was just one of those equids who loved to joke and laugh. When Guin saw him, he recognized him as Ithil's son (Guin knows everyone's names and relations, being quite the social guy he is), he walked up and repeated what he said to Ithil. Endros, seeing the mischievous grin in Guin's eyes, played along, bowing and saying, "O, great Evil One, how may I serve thee that thou might sparest my poor life?" It went back and forth for a little bit before Guin couldn't contain his laughter any longer and went crazy with it. After that, Endros and Guin were the best of friends and Endros explained the whole thing to Ithil, who then accepted Guin's apology for freaking her out.
So, really, it all depends on which of his many moods Guin is in and what kind of equid is getting this first impression.
