It’s the hours heaped up, of fading sunlight cutting
through curtains,
Of standing guard and waiting and watching and hoping
that they wake up,
Of pawing and whining and fighting off nightmares,
Of resting in a tired dose, because exhaustion is all you
have when you cannot rest.
But there’s still fear, when the steady beep-beep-beep
doesn’t stay steady,
When it flutter’s like a bird’s wing in the rain and you
have to hold your breath and vanish for a few hours so
the other humans can do their work,
And even though you know they’ll shake their heads
and bend low over white papers with solemn faces,
You still hope.


And one day she moves.
And you can’t help but neigh in excitement
and grin and prance and dance because this is
it.
This is it-
She’s waking up, she’s waking up, she’s
waking up!
And all the fears and the worries and the pain
seem to vanish, but then you realise that -
What happens when she wakes up?
What happens when she wakes up and she doesn’t
need the protector of her dreams again?
Where do you go? What do you do? Is there a
special corner of her mind that you’re shoved
into until the moon rises again?
You’re too weak to figure out that this fear that
grows in you is unfounded,
Is ridiculous and useless, but you can’t help but
give in to it and feel the tangles grip your heart,
And you wonder who’s going to protect your dreams.
Then knowledge that you can dream but that
you’ve never been able to -
Never will be able to, until the unsteady breathing
stops its fight,
And you can’t wish for that to happen, because
it’s cruel and mean and heartless-
But you just wish she would wake up.

Because she didn’t move.
Because all your hopes were unfounded, but your
fears still hang above you,
And it seems like such an unfair trade that it
almost makes you cry,
But you can’t, because the nightmares are returning,
and you’ll never be able to rest.
So you pass your life, in years of silence and noise,
In unspoken words and frantic pacing and fighting,
In scratches and wounds and no rest,
And you wait for one of you to give up first.❞

Veda means 'knowledge' or 'wisdom', two very good traits for a Dreamcatcher who's charge is a coma patient and unlikely to wake up anytime soon. Although she sometimes acts a bit air-headed, Veda is quite intelligent and witty, and use her vast knowledge to her advantage, though she doesn't like to be seen as a 'nerd'.

Veda is...Well, oh dear, how would you ever describe Veda if you met her? Hm. At first, Veda often comes off as excitable and restless, bouncing around and talking your ear off as she chats (staying in one space for years has messed with her a little bit) but in reality she's just happy to meet another person, and will usually calm down after a little while of babbling away. In actuality, once she's over the whole 'ooo, shiny new thing!' attitude, you'll notice that she perfers to let other people do the talking, and only interupts when she wants to say something or is asked a question. Although she's exceptionally snarky, and loves to irratate people, she also has a super-sweet side, and she often goes out of her way to do nice things for other people, even if she won't get anything in return. She's a bit of a flirt, and though she can be obnixious and extrememly over-confident, she's also exceptionally stubborn, and will never give up on her friends, no matter what the consequences for her. The best person to have on your side during a battle, and the worst person to get mad, Veda will often hold a grudge for years so she can have her revenge, and isn't afraid to lie and cheat to get her own way, though she does feel guilty about that and will generally apologise...After it's all over, of couse. Her bluntness can sometimes off-put for potentional friends, but those who can see past that also know that she's incrediably sarcastic and ridiculously romantic - if you get her talking about romance or anything along those lines, you may be stuck for days - find any topic that she's intereasted in, actually, and she'll gladly chat to you, even if usually she isn't very talkative.
