- “Be unite like a rain; be powerful like an ocean.”
― Abed Rahmani - Name:Hayden Carr Pridemore. His middle name means 'broken', to symbolize the pain and sorrow he has dealt with -- and overcome -- in his past. He often goes by his nicknames, 'Pride' or 'Den'.
Gender:Male.
Jewel Color:Ice blue -- he loves swimming, and controlling the water.
Birthday: May 10, 1995. He's eighteen years old, and a Taurus, with his birthstone being the emerald.
Personality:Hayden is slightly sarcastic and a snarky sort of sweet, he uses his joking outward appearance to hide the hurting soul inside. When he's alone, or with close friends, he is very solemn and quiet, and rarely speaks. However, he's extremely energetic and focused ninety percent of the time, and loves -- oddly enough -- hard work and accomplishing things on his own, preferring working by himself to working in a group. He finds it hard to trust other dragons, although he does his best to give everyone a chance. Overly cheerful dragons bother him, but he's good at not letting his emotions show. Any girls he courts are often surprised by how soulful and sweet he can be when he's not making jokes with his friends or flying paper airplanes. He enjoys writing down his thoughts sometimes, although he rarely keeps them, preferring it only as a method of clearing his mind before throwing the paper away. Hayden doesn't really have an angry side, however, he's VERY good at holding grudges, and has a fantastic, almost photographic memory. If you were to peel away the layers, inside, you'd simply find a confused, scared boy who doesn't really know what he wants out of life, and is just learning how to hope. Hayden delights in making new friends, surrounding himself with those who love him and enjoy being around him, something he's learned to treasure. In part, Hayden IS a mystery, because you never know which 'flavor' you're going to get.
History: Hayden was born a rather typical child. His mother adored him and spoiled him rotten in his early years of life, while his father was never around much. When he was, Hayden's parents would fight bitterly, often causing him to find sanctuary in the darkness of his closet. They'd hoped that a child would ease the storms brewing in their marriage, but the opposite was true. When Hayden was still too young to really understand what was going on, his father left them to fend for themselves. His mother worked two jobs to keep them financially afloat, leaving Hayden to grow up virtually on his own, learning how to survive without parents. He often compared himself to orphans, even though both of his parents were still living.
As Hayden grew, he became slightly wild, and frightened his mother by staying out late and getting in with the 'bad crowd'. By the time he was a teenager, though, Hayden had realized who he was, who he was meant to be, and settled down as a calm, helpful young male. He got a job of his own to help out, and shortly after, he met Lunar. Something in her drew out the wildness that he had repressed, and before he knew it, he was looting stores, houses, whatever he could to make a living and impress her, although he wasn't sure why he wanted to. He left his mother to fend for herself -- something he's not particularly proud of -- and found his own home in the city when Lunar left. Given time to think over the feelings he had over those three years, he knew that he'd often pondered if Lunar was his soul mate -- but he couldn't be sure two souls as fiery and restless as their own could possibly be paired together with any good outcome.
Occupation:Hayden used to be a thief, and now to make up for it, he makes an honest living working as an apprentice for a kind carpenter. He enjoys the hard work, and making things with his own paws, and can't wait until he knows all about the trade himself.
Dreams:To make up for the life he lived before, and be someone that his family can be proud of. He wants a stable job and to own his own home, which he can decorate any way he likes. Some day, like most dragons, he would like to have a mate, although he's happy to wait as long as it takes to find the perfect girl, and he's not sure if he wants children yet.
Pet:If Hayden could have any pet in the world, he would have a deer. He finds the animals amazingly majestic, and finds strength in the fact that they can flee from any situation without being anything less than awesome.

Story:I will never forget how we gazed into each other's eyes for the longest time that night, those endless pools of blue framed by long black lashes. It was a game we played, and I never blinked first -- but sometimes I let her win. However, this game wasn't as fun. There was a seriousness to her expression that matched my own, our shoulders slumped, bodies exhausted. Crimes weren't necessarily hard for us, but they were tiring. I watched her yawn and withheld one of my own -- being tired was a sign of weakness, and I could never admit how weak I was to her. Her jewel shimmered like the stars above us as she turned to me and gave me a bored but slightly amused look. "Got something to say?" She asked a bit curtly, but I had grown used to, even perhaps fond of, her rather playful banter. I didn't know what I'd do without it.
I opened my mouth to say those words, the ones that needed so desperately to be said, like a man... but I wasn't a man. Not yet. I was only a foolish teenager with a vice for danger, I'd even lived with my mom until I'd followed Lunar to the city on a dare. I knew we needed to split up, and get out of here. But something inside me stopped me from saying it, like my throat was swelling shut -- back then, I didn't know. Now I know it was only the fear of losing her. I knew we'd be safer apart, with less of a chance of the police finding us and convicting us of our crimes, but I couldn't spit those words out, no matter how hard I tried. So instead I just shook my head and gave her a lazy smile. "Nah."
As I turned out, I didn't have to be the one to say good-bye. We fell asleep that night, her face lingering on my mind and making it hard to rest, but when I woke up, our place was empty. She was gone. I almost laughed at the irony in it, how smart she'd been to get out and brave enough not only to say it, but to say it by simply leaving, allowing me no room to argue. She'd taken some of our loot and a lot of our food, but I couldn't even focus, because something deep inside me knew I'd lost my greatest treasure. In my mind I imagined her on greater, grander pillaging, stealing from the rich, wearing fancy silver and gold jewelry. In my dreams her memory haunted me, blue eyes winking, tail swishing, wings flapping teasingly as she took to the skies with her short little laugh. For the longest time, I could think of no one but her. As I passed other girls on the street, there she was! And my disappointment when I found my mind was playing tricks could have broken hearts. But I stayed strong, and after a while, I was able to come to terms with what she had done. I wasn't angry with her, I was impressed. I wasn't depressed about it, I was glad we had both stayed safe and gotten on with our lives like we should have, like... grown adults.
Yet it would always be my life's grandest mystery as to where my darling Lunar had disappeared to....
Theme Songs:Lonely Lullabies by Owl City or Come Wake Me Up by Rascal Flatts
Poem:I wrote this specifically for this competition, and I find it best when I imagine Hayden singing it at night, looking up at the stars and imagining what Lunar's doing, wherever she is out there in the world.
If I could follow you into the night
I'm not sure I could even take flight
Something in me wouldn't feel right
Not even if I was tracking you in broad daylight
I thought you belonged with me, and I with you
But now I know that can't be true
You belong wild, free, out where you flew
Somewhere in the night's endless dark blue
And when the rain starts falling down
I'll still remember your voice, that sharp sound,
How with you there were stars for miles around
And no better thief could ever be found
You were the starlight of my eye,
At least until you said good-bye
I always thought you'd be forever at my side
That together, we'd enjoy the wild ride
But now you're gone and it's hard to move on
Did I do something wrong?
I'm still singing the same 'ol song
But you planned to leave me all along
If I saw you again I wouldn't know what to do
When I thought we were through
And I'm finally getting over you
And I forgive you...
But I'd give my wings if you would tell me why
Or just a chance to say good-bye
Tell me why, Lunar, tell me how
Did you think we'd end up where we are now?
I hope you hear me in the dark
I hope this reaches to your heart
See me shining in the night
Wherever in the world you are
Know I forgive you...
Friends and Enemies:Yes, he had to move on after losing her, and making some new friends really helped that process along. Here's some of those dragons...
Owned by Persian♥, they get along well because they're both pretty brave and intelligent, and they know how to get themselves out of tight spots when need be.
Also owned by Persian♥, he gets along with this sweet girl pretty well and finds her very attractive, although it's hard for him to have a crush on any girl, because he constantly compares them to Lunar.
Owned by pipsqueak99, this bubbly, adventurous girl often brings out a slightly more playful side in Hayden, and they get into a lot of mischief together -- although he treats her as one might treat an adored younger sister, not a love.
Unfortunately, he also made some enemies, being the bold guy that he is...
Owned by Blizzardclaw. Azuri stole from Hayden a long, long time ago, but Hayden still hasn't forgotten, and loathes the other male.
Note From Me:I wasn't planning on trying out for another dragon anytime soon, I was waiting for someone to strike me even more than any of the JMDs I already own. I highly doubted that could happen at all, but it turns out it happened -- and a lot quicker than I thought. I waited for a few days, deciding if I should, and then I begged my friends for help to win this gorgeous guy. If I do, I promise that I'll roleplay him with Lunar anytime you want (did I mention I love to roleplay, and I have nearly all of my JMDs active in a roleplay at the moment? Some two or three!) and treat him like the shatter-hearted king he is. <333 Thanks for listening to my rambling. XD
I'd also like to thank my friend evanescent. for helping a bit with the coding, and everyone who sold/gave me art. <3 I even added in a few pieces of my own to show how much I want him, although I can assure you it's not quite as good as what the kind users of the JMD community made for me. If I don't win him, the winner can have all of the art I commissioned/made/was gifted. ^-^
