-My Tragedy-
A scream rang out from nearby, it was dark and hazy and I all I could see were my own front paws and the blur in my view that was the tip of my nose. I recognized the voice that sounded pleading as that of my mother's and I knew I had lost her. My father then, shouting at another male about my mother. Something about unforgivable and loss. I could hear the pain in his voice but I would not register it as such until I looked back on it years afterword. I heard growling then I smelled fresh blood. There was a lot and it was nearby so I did the only thing I could. I ran.
It was late and the fog was thick on the ground, being so small as I am, I couldn't see over it, let alone through it, so I ran blindly, looking for some escape. I tripped and fell, rolling for a while, then I felt nothing beneath me, only a feeling in the pit of my stomach that felt exhilarating yet terrifying. It was my first fall, and a bad one. I had tripped over a tree root and fallen off a cliff, fortunately, the fall wasn't too far and I landed in a small pool. It was deep enough that I wasn't flattened on the bottom, but the fall had been far enough to create a sharp sting as I landed on my side.
I was sinking and bubbles swirled around me as my breath slowly escaped from my screaming mouth. I paddled furiously upward, but I was too weak from the run and the fall, and my wet fur was so heavy, I just kept getting dragged further, and further down. Then, I remember seeing a blurred figure, and more bubbles swirled around the pool as the figure entered the water. I was barely conscious and very faintly I could see an unfamiliar grown up pull me toward the surface. I lost consciousness after we broke the surface.

I awoke, coughing, on a soft bed of moss and leaves. My eyes were wide and panicked as I looked around the strange and unfamiliar place. I was confused and I began to call for my mother, but then I remembered everything. I wondered who had saved me, but I was not going to call out to them, whoever they were. I rose slowly to my feet and immediately there was a sharp pain in my front left paw. I figured I had hurt it when I had tripped and rolled, but I could not let it bother me, so I picked it up off the ground and hobbled out of the cave I had awoken in to find a busy bustling pack. My parents had lived alone in the woods and I had never seen a pack before, so this new, exciting sight was splendid.
My wonder was interrupted by and earthy-colored female who walked up to me. She introduced herself to me and said we were going to meet the Alpha, so I obediently followed her. She noticed my limp immediately, and, without even letting me protest, she scooped me up and carried me to see the Alpha. I vaguely recognized him and I understood that he had been the one to save from drowning so I bowed respectfully and thanked him, to which her merely chuckled and replied, "Why child, don't be foolish. I saved you out my own kindness, you need not show me so much respect. Now, tell me how you ended up falling in the pool anyway."
I told him everything as best as I could and he nodded, "I see." he said, "then from now on, you shall live in this pack and we will take care of you. This incident has robbed you of what would have been your childhood, but I would be glad to see you grow and leave it behind."
I'm not sure if it was a curse or a blessing that I did not grow. It might be a permanent reminder of my tragedy, or it could simply be a way to get a second chance at being a kid. All I know is that the old Alpha who had saved me, died a few years later. The earthy-colored female took over in his place, and she watched out for me until I learned to be more careful. I never grew up, and I'm still just a little kid, but she made sure that I would be an intelligent one so I could stay out of trouble, and I'm glad she did, because thanks to her, I am safe.
-Personality-
Thalia is somewhat wise for a pup who will never grow up, but she likes it. Being a kid forever gives her a youthful and imaginative perspective on everything, and having no real job in the pack gives her plenty of time to think. Yet, despite all her "profound wisdom," Thalia is an athletic little tomboy, and a fairly skilled fighter for a little female. She likes to run in her spare time, it helps her think. She also enjoys climbing trees and trying to jump from tree to tree. She enjoys the rush of flying, but she has fallen so many times that she has great acrobatic agility and hasn't broken anything in year.
-Poem-
My heart, my soul,
long to be free
but if I grow,
caged, they will be.
So forever I stay,
as young as one new
so can be who I want
as long as I need to.
And now that I'm free
my soul can take flight,
light the shinning bugs escaping
up into the night.
As my heart did flutter
when I took that first fall
but the rush was worth it
and it didn't hurt much at all.
And it is the rush we crave
my soul and my heart
the freedom they wanted
A whirling work of art.
