Name:Elantris
Personality:Elantris is a quiet Kia who often keeps to himself, usually choosing to occupy his time with watching the world and relishing in the beauty around him. He adores nature and can often be found staring at bees pollinating flowers or sometimes sitting beside small streams and listening to the water running.
Elantris is a solitary soul. He can be mean to others, and will often go so far as to attack another kiamara when he feels his peace is threatened. His distaste of others is a spawn of orphaning as a pup. Ultimately, Elantris just wants to be alone.
One eXtra:The cool, moist grass softened underfoot, giving way with a gentle hush. Elantris padded slowly through the glade he so often traversed, pausing in the middle to take a deep breath. The sun broke through the thick canopy to speckle the forest floor in bits of light. Elantris felt so at peace here. The soft trickle of a nearby stream, combined with the gentle, swaying songs of the birds high in the trees left little to be desired. After a brief respite from his journey, Elantris continued on with his quest to find the stream.
After a few minutes of silent walking, in which case the monotony was broken up only when Elantris found himself forced to hop over a large root protruding from the ground, the kiamara found himself in another, larger glade. Flowers swayed in the warm, comforting breeze, and the soft trickle of a stream dumping into a pool of water at the center of the clearing were all that broke up the relaxing silence. Elantris trotted up to his favorite place on the grass, by the pool of water, closest to the flowers, and laid down to enjoy himself. The soft hum of insects flying around to pollenate the flowers were the only other sound that could be heard.
Slowly, Elantris settled into the grass, resting his head against a smooth rock so that his muzzle just nearly touched the pond, and his tail gently disturbed the grass behind him. He was a shadow in the field. Barely seen, barely noticed, but felt nonetheless. Along with Elantris’ presence, a sense of calm seemed to follow. The bees seemed to grow lazy and the flowers’ dance to the wind calmed even more so. All was peaceful and quiet.
Elantris could not have been more happy at that moment.
That is, until the thud of paws on the ground awoke Elantris from his rest. The kiamara raised his head slowly and he looked around. Someone was disturbing his moment of quiet. The entire glade’s hum of peace seemed to shift to an agitated, distressed warning. Elantris stood slowly and watched, growling warningly, as another kiamara stepped out. It stared at him oddly before making a move to the pool. Elantris stood still, watching this intruder’s every move with a withering glare.
When the stranger made a move to drink from the pool, Elantris snapped at the kiamara, his teeth coming inches from the other kiamara’s leg. The surprised female turned and hurried out of the glade, her tail tucked between her legs. Elantris remained standing, his fur bristled as he made sure that no one else was around. The wind had picked up as the sun dipped low in the horizon. Elantris laid back down for the last few minutes of rest he could get before he’d need to go back to his cave.
Elantris closed his eyes with a sigh as the glade returned to its peaceful state. The flowers went back to dancing in the wind, the brook’s gentle trickle got louder and blanketed the clearing in a comforting embrace. When the sun disappeared under the canopy, Elantris knew it was time to go back. Standing slowly, the shadowy form trotted out of the forest, his dark colors blending in with the rapidly approaching night.
Elantris’ cave was small and shallow. As Elantris had gotten older, it just barely kept him completely covered. However, Elantris would never leave his home. He was so lucky to have a place like it in the forest. On a high mountain, overlooking much of the temperate forest, Elantris’ cave had many trees on the hill, and a waterfall was just on the other side of the mountain. On calm, peaceful nights, especially like this, Elantris could fall asleep to the soothing roar of the waterfall.
Elantris stepped easily up the rocky grade, his sure footing never giving way, even under the uneven stones beneath his paws. When Elantris reached the plateau, the sight of his cave was there to greet him. After a moment of taking in the sight before him, Elantris curled up in his cave and closed his eyes, the sound of the waterfall lulling him to sleep.
