How is your relationship with your family, hm?Adrienne loves her family, it's true. She just wants to be different, and knows her parents won't like it, so she keeps her, ah, separate personality, you could say, to herself.
A lovely experience...She had managed to sneak out, her iPod and earbuds concealed. Once outside, in the crisp night, she sighed in relief. Carrying her iPod in her mouth, the Lumirett, wisp glowing in the dark, set off to the familiar place. The grove in the forest. A curved dent in the soft ground, lined with emerald moss and framed by dark, majestic wood from fallen trees. She flumped down on the soft moss, listening to the music which she really preferred, rather than the classical numbers she pretended to enjoy. A light shone in the distance and she froze. Was Cami coming after her? Had her parents found out about her secret journeys to the forest? No, it wasn't that. If anything, the light appeared to be minuscule, and seemed to be approaching her. She froze as the dot of light landed gently on her nose. Eyes crossed to see, she inspected it. A firefly. Like she had read about, dreamed about. The magical creatures which could create their own light, just like her, with her glowing wisp. But fireflies were different, their light was more of a shine, whereas hers was a dull glow, perhaps a shimmer. Her music poured through the headphones she wore.
I'm waking up
I feel it in my bones...The firefly on her nose was joined not only by one but two more. And those had brought friends of their own, who had dragged along more of the tiny lights, until Adrienne was surrounded by twinkling lights. They did not dance for her, but simply floated in the air, suspended, as if time had frozen them.
whoa, whoa
I'm radioactive,
Radioactive..The beat and harshness of her favorite song would seem at first thought to contrast so much with the scene before her, but they blended perfectly. Adrienne's imagination got ahead of herself and suddenly she thought perhaps the fireflies had these "radioactive" powers of their own, and this was why they shone. Or perhaps it was just magic, pure magic...
The lights shone duller and duller until a velvety darkness fell over her, and she fell asleep.
