~Melody~
An usually warm spring breeze ruffled Melody's soft pink mane. The clear sky was a beautiful shade of blue, a shade just like her eyes. It's such a lovely day, Melody happily thought to herself. Perfect for just taking a nice stroll outside. She hummed herself a tune as she leisurely strolled through her favorite meadow, stopping every now and then to sniff a tulip or daffodil. Melody loved walking through the rainbow of flowers, seeing bright yellow bees drink the sweet nectar from one flower then zip to another. Anyone would think a place so beautiful would be a haven for pink Jewl Mane dragons, and for many it was. It was Melody's favorite meadow, for sure, but it was far from her favorite place. She continued her walk at a casual pace, for Melody was in no particular hurry, until she came to the edge of the meadow, where a thick forest began. Melody cast a glance over her shoulder at the meadow, taking in its brightness a final time before slipping into the trees.
She stepped carefully over gnarled roots and ducked under low hanging branches. Melody, knowing the path well, arrived quickly to her destination. It was a large pond with clear water so still it looked like glass. Sunlight that passed through the leafy trees dappled the pond and the short soft grass around its banks. Melody dipped a paw in the water and let it drift lazily, enjoying the coolness. The pond was much duller and no where near as colorful as the meadow. Many called it dark and dreary. Some even went as far as to say it was downright ugly. Yet Melody did not use the powers of her Jewl to make the pond as beautiful as the meadow. "True beauty," Melody said softly to no one in particular. "is on the inside. To some, like me, and all the creatures that make their home here, this place is beautiful. And there is no need to fix what is not broken." She gave a happy sigh and lay her head on her paw, enjoying the beauty that was invisible to some, but clear as day to others.
